View of House

If you were the osprey, and not the people watching through the living room window as it dives before your eyes, then this is where you would build your nest.

High above Loch Earn, perched on the very edge of the Scottish Highlands, with the wilderness of Glen Tarken at your back door, and the loch stretching away towards the Trossachs at the south-facing front. St Fillans is at the eastern tip of Loch Earn, within the boundary of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Fishing, sailing and water-skiing are all well established here, with boat-launching and equipment hire all close by. This is also a walker's paradise. The closest Munro, Ben Vorlich, is climbed from the south side of the loch, and the rest of the Trossachs are no distance away. Dogs are generally happy to spend as much of the day as their owners will allow exploring Glen Tarken, the track to which passes the main door of Fortrenn.
Fortrenn was built in 1903 in the Arts and Crafts style as a holiday home and has retained most of its original features. A listed building of architectural importance, it has been tastefully furnished to complement this. It sits in one and a half acres of private garden, including a terrace of lawn at the front overlooked by a wee garden house, and informal woodland with lawns at the rear.
With Oban, Fort William, St Andrews, Edinburgh, and Glasgow all less than one and a half hours away, you are hard-pressed to find a more central location for your Scottish holiday.
