On any evening, enjoy a meal in either the bistro or the newly refurbished McKnight's Restaurant, with its stunning traditional stone wall and fireplace. Head Chef Peter Forster brings a contemporary twist to traditional cooking, using locally sourced produce including seafood and organic lamb.Travel the 9 miles to Castle Douglas and take a stroll around the pleasant 18th century market town which is recognised as Scotland's Food Town and has a number of delicious traditional food shops where you can sample more of the region's delights. Beside the town is the beautiful Carlingwark Loch, dotted with islands, where you can enjoy boating and picnicking or even learn to sail. Make sure you take time to explore the historic town of Dumfries, famed for its connections to Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns.
