Welcome to Bridgend Cottage. Located in Sandyhills Bay on the beautiful Solway Coast, this luxury self-catering holiday cottage provides an idyllic base for families, couples and groups who want to enjoy the great outdoors.
Bridgend Cottage, originally Sandyhill's village hall and adjacent cottage, has now been converted to a superbly equipped and comfortable family home. Bridgend Cottage is literally a stone's throw from the golden sands of Sandyhills Bay and an average 3-iron from Colvend Golf Course! A pleasant leafy garden lies to the rear of Bridgend Cottage, featuring a stone bridge onto a small island in the middle of the adjoining burn. This is unfenced and accordingly, young children will require supervision. This traditional stone cottage is right opposite the beach with its own snooker table in the lounge, and offers the perfect base from which to explore all that this beautiful corner of Scotland has to offer, from relaxing breaks to full-on activity holidays.
The property is dog-friendly, furnished and equipped to a high standard; has oil fired central heating, ensuring warm and comfortable holidays throughout the year. The spacious modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for your self-catering break, while outside on the patio, enjoy a barbecue and unwind as you soak up the views or loose yourself as you sit back and listen to a combination of bird life and the water running down the stream towards the water wheel at the edge of the garden.
This is an ideal choice for making the most of the great outdoors providing a blend of seaside and countryside to suit your individual requirements. From walking on Sandyhills beach to mountain biking on the nearby 7stanes mountain bike trails, golfing or fishing, you can enjoy it all here. The rolling farmland, sheltered lochs, and coastline with its spectacular headlands, cliffs and sheltered sandy bays also offers great birdwatching opportunities, particularly in the spring when the cliffs team with birdlife. There are also beautiful scenic and challenging golf courses such as the Championship links course at Southerness, fantastic fishing - sea, fly or line, take your pick, and exhilarating watersports on offer on loch Ken or Kippford bay if you have your own boat. Dumfries and Galloway also has some of the best dark sky observing sites and where else can you get a taste but from Bridgend Cottage (bring your own equipment though).
Nearby, the Galloway Forest Park is 300 square miles of beautiful green forest, heather-clad hills, a wealth of wildlife and two of the 7stanes mountain biking centres, Glentrool and Kirroughtree.
