    Glenbeag Cottage is a lovely, bright family holiday home in the magical west highland coastal village of Glenelg, overlooking the Sound of Sleat to the Isle of Skye.

    This self catering cottage is an ideal location for wildlife, beach, water or hill based holidays, as relaxed or active as you wish to be. The cottage is near the renowned Glenelg Inn and a minutes walk from the village shop and the seashore.

    It is in a stunning area that includes the site of Gavin Maxwell's 'Camusfearna' at Sandaig with its white coral beaches. Glenbeag has some of the best preserved Iron Age brochs. Close by are Munros including Beinn Sgritheall and the Five Sisters of Kintail. And you may still 'sail over the sea to Skye' on the traditional Glenelg ferry crossing at Kylerhea.

    Glenbeag Cottage has recently been renovated and decorated to high specifications. Its gardens provide space for relaxation and games. It is comfortable, very well equipped and has a useful supply of games, books and map. There is a lovely open fire in the lounge for cooler days. Its 3 bedrooms accommodate up to 5 guests. The cottage is fully double glazed with electric storage and convector heatersand underfloor heating. There is wireless broadband installed. This is a non-smoking and no pets cottage. Glenelg is 20 miles south of Kyle of Lochalsh. Nearby are Eilean Donan Castle, Plockton, Loch Duich and Knoydart. The village is approached by the spectacular Mam Ratagan Pass from Shiel Bridge. A variety of sand or shingle beaches are from 1 to 20 minutes walk; protected bays and exposed rocky peninsulas abound. Wonderful wildlife includes the chance of seeing otters, eagles or a whale. Views of Skye are ever present and ever changing. Sunrises and sunsets are often amazingly colourful with the big skies and sea reflections.

    Glenbeag Cottage is a bungalow entered by a large front porch into a central hall from which all other rooms are accessed. There is a comfortable lounge / diner with open fire (also Sky TV, DVD, CD & MP3 players). The modern and well equipped kitchen has a double oven & hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave and benefits from welcoming under-floor heating. There is a separate utility with washing machine & tumble dryer and back door. The 3 comfortable and good sized bedrooms (1 ks double, 1 twin & 1 single) have plenty of cupboard space. The white and blue bathroom benefits from a full size bath, electric shower and under-floor heating.

    Glenbeag Cottage has a fully equipped kitchen including all crockery, cutlery, pots & pans, corkscrew etc; we have provided a small vacuum flask and a cool bag for picnics/supermarket trips. Cleaning materials & equipment are provided, as well as iron and ironing board. There is a washing machine and separate tumble dryer; several clothes airers for inside and outside, and a heated clothes airer for damp coats etc. The under-floor heating is good for drying boots & shoes!

    The satellite and digital TV has a wide selection of Sky channels including Sky Sports. There is a selection of DVDs. Games provided include Scrabble, Chess, Backgammon, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit & Scotland Quest.

    There are Ordnance Survey maps and several walking guide books, as well as a selection of books on topics of local interest. Please make full use of these, feel free to take them with you on your walks, but please leave them at the end of your stay for the next guests to enjoy.

    Road Directions

    From Inverness take the A82 south to Loch Ness. At Invermoriston turn right onto the A887 which joins the A87. Or from Fort William take the A87 north turning left at Invergarry signposted to Kyle of Lochalsh. On A87 after passing the Cluanie Inn continue to Shiel Bridge. Immediately beyond the shop and service station turn left to Glenelg. Climb over the spectacular Mam Ratagan Pass, continuing down Glenmor to Glenelg. In the centre of the village pass the Shop/Post Office on your left and turn right into the Glenelg Inn carpark. Park there. Glenbeag Cottage is through the gate on your right.

    From the nearest information centre:- From Kyle of Lochalsh take A87 south to Shiel Bridge, turning off on road to Glenelg over Mam Rattagan Pass.

    Getting there by railway:- From Glasgow or Edinburgh to Inverness then on the spectacular West Highland Line to Kyle of Lochalsh.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- From Inverness, 2 hours; Glasgow & Edinburgh, 4 hours.

    Getting there by ferry:- Glenelg ferry from / to Skye, 1 mile from cottage.
