Glencaird Farmhouse (Bargrennan)

Lying in a very peaceful, rural location on a 200-acre private estate, this detached former farmhouse offers the perfect luxury self-catering break in beautiful countryside adjacent to the Galloway Hills.

Sleeping eight, Glencaird Farmhouse is a 4-star property with spacious rooms which are all tastefully decorated with a cosy colour scheme and beautifully furnished to the highest of standards. Downstairs, the homely sitting room has an entertainment centre with free satellite TV and a DVD player, and a traditional stone surround fireplace with a log burning stove - ideal for chiller nights. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with a dining table seating eight, an electric Rayburn cooker, microwave, freezer, washer and dryer. The pretty gardens are the perfect place to relax with a chilled glass of wine after a fantastic day out.

Upstairs, each of the five bedrooms offers a comfortable night's sleep and the spacious bathrooms and additional en suite will help the morning rush for the shower. Quality towels and bed linen are provided and there is free Wi-Fi access and ample parking available.

The beautiful 200-acre estate abounds with wildlife and offers excellent walking, cycling and wildlife spotting opportunities as well as first-class salmon fishing on the water of Minnoch. You are also ideally located for exploring Scotland's longest and most challenging walking route, the Southern Upland Way, and are close to the Galloway Forest Park with its 300 square miles of beautiful green forest, heather-clad hills, wealth of wildlife and two of the 7stanes mountain biking centres, Glentrool and Kirroughtree. At night, it is also one of the best spots in the UK for stargazing with the naked eye, as it's the first Dark Sky Park in the UK and one of only two in Europe.
