This delightful 160 year old Crofters Cottage is very cosy and full of character in a fantastic location for this most famous Highland area. Overlooks Loch Leven with mountain views all around, and Loch views from every room. Glencoe and Ballachulish villages are a short walk away with shops and pubs. A warm welcome awaits you, tea and coffee and pint of milk , fire set ready to light on your arrival. Friendly help nearby if needed. The cottage perfectly combines the comforts of modern living with tradition. There are traditional local slate and wooden floors, deep slate window sills, beamed ceilings, traditional slate surround hearth with multi fuel burner, fully heated throughout ,2 freeview digital TVs, DVD with small DVD library, CD/radio with growing CD and book library, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine.
On the Ground Floor is the Porch/Drying room- useful for wet weather! One double room with slate floor, one twin bedroom with wooden floor and high open beamed ceiling with ladder with handrail and balcony rail leading to a mezzanine level with double mattress on floor for extra sleeping (like Heidi's hayloft!). Both bedrooms are cosy, tastefully furnished with plenty of storage space. The Shower room is decorated to a very high standard with a large shower cubicle and a good electric shower. Kitchen is open plan with the Dining/Sitting room that has an oak wooden floor, beamed ceiling, a digital freeview TV , easy chairs in front of a slate hearth with the multi fuel burner laid ready to light for your arrival, very cosy after all your activities during the day! The Lounge is on the first floor as this has the best view of the loch. It is cosy and welcoming with digtal freeview TV/DVD and a double sofa bed for extra sleeping if required.
There is private off street parking in the disused cow byre attached to the cottage. A side gate from here leads into the large enclosed garden with garden furniture and BBQ and a lockable shed for guests’ bike storage with some tools, handy for any repairs.
All power for lighting, heating etc and bed linen and towels included in hire. Cot available. Dogs are welcome , brilliant area for walkies.
The cottage is in a fantastic location for walking, climbing, wildlife and bird watching. Three locations on BBC’s Secret Britain can be accessed easily from here. West Highland Way easy access. Ben Nevis 20 minutes drive. Nevis Range Gondola open all year (skiing in winter). Glencoe Skiing centre and chairlift 15/20 minutes drive. Ferries for Island exploring easy distance at Oban. Trips to Mull, Skye and Kintail easy distance from here. Outdoor Activity Centres and Ice Factor Indoor Climbing Centre both nearby. Golf course and Segway course 5 minutes drive at Ballachulish. Shops and pubs are within walking distance at Glencoe and Ballachulish. Good restaurants to choose from locally. Boat/kayak hire and whale/seal watching trips at boat centre 5 minutes away. Cycling on world class mountain bike trails locally with bike hire and repair nearby. For easy cycling there is the SUSTRANS Cycle Track accessed straight from the cottage, runs along the coast towards OBAN . Steam Railway Fort William to Mallaig - see where Hogwarts Express sequences were shot for Harry Potter films. Go over the Glenfinnan viaduct. Visit the Glencoe Centre and local museum to enjoy an area steeped in history. Stunning area.
