Heather Cottage

The perfect place to get away from it all. Inverlussa is a quiet hamlet and the cottage faces the river next to a sandy beach.

Heather Cottage sleeps five people. There is a double bedroom and a single bedroom
upstairs and a twin bedded room downstairs.

Kitchen: Electric cooker, fridge, freezer, double sink and larder. Microwave.

Bathroom: Immersion hot water heater, basin, lavatory and large bath

Sitting room with open fire (coal provided).

Thirty miles long but with only one village (Craighouse), one road and a
population of only 200, JURA is a place to really get away from it all. George
Orwell wrote 1984 here. Jura's natural beauty is still unspoilt and outstanding.
There are barren hills, standing stones, the famous Paps, raised beaches and
wonderful wildlife: seals, otters, a varied bird population, wild goats and 6,000
red deer. It is an ideal place for hill-walking or just relaxing in peace and quiet.
Brown trout fishing (fly only) is available.

The hamlet of Inverlussa consists of the Old School House and six stone
cottages built for estate workers at the end of the 19th century. HEATHER
COTTAGE is an end cottage, 20 yards from the Lussa River and facing a safe
and sandy beach.
Bookings are from Sunday to Sunday.

Directions: Caledonian MacBrayne Ferries. Telephone 08705.650.000,
(www.calmac.co.uk.) Book well in advance! Sail from Kennacraig to Islay, and
then catch the linking ferry to Jura. Drive 25 miles up the single-track road to
Inverlussa, turning off before you get to the Ardlussa cattle grid. Continue to the
bay and cross the bridge. Heather Cottage is directly ahead.

Pets allowed only by special arrangement.

Rates: from £350 per week, including VAT, electricity and coal. Linen available if booked in advance. £100 deposit payable on confirmation of booking.
