    The perfect 'Get away from it all' location.Hill Cottage, near Scourie, is a traditional stone built crofters cottage still owned by the family who built it,with stunning views of sea loch and mountains.Walkers,wildlife & birdwatchers heaven.

    Set in a stunning location overlooking Loch Laxford on the North west coast of Scotland, approximately 90 miles north of Inverness. This part of Western Scotland is a remote area of outstanding natural beauty, with island-studded bays, gleaming sandy beaches and towering cliffs. It is an ideal location from which to explore the North West of Scotland or for a total 'Get away from it all' holiday.

    Located 1 mile from the seasonal ferry to 'Handa Island',managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

    Handa hosts one of the largest seabird breeding colonies in N.W. Europe and is a great day out.

    Golfers can enjoy a game at Durness, the most northerly golf course on the British mainland.

    Walkers & sea kayakers paradise and bring your dog who will love the empty beaches. 

    Despite this being the next best thing to wilderness, a place where you can almost feel you are alone on this beautiful planet,

    there is a seafood restaurant(seasonal) just a mile from the cottage at Tarbet.

    The nearest Hotel with bar & seasonal restaurant and shop are in Scourie 6 miles away.

    The main nearest shopping and touring centres are Ullapool and Lairg.

    Bed linen and electricity is included in the price. Sorry but we are unable to supply a cot or high chair.

     One dog  allowed by prior agreement.

    PRIVATE WATER SUPPLY which is treated but vunerable individuals eg very young /old/infirm, are advised  to bring bottled water.

    Road Directions

    DIRECTIONS: Hill Cottage may be approached either via Ullapool on the A835 or via Lairg on the A838.
    From Ullapool: take the A835 to Ledmore, the A837 to Skiag Bridge and the A894, through Unapool, to Scourie. Continuing for 3 miles on the A894, turn left to Tarbet. Fanagmore is one mile beyond Tarbet. Hill Cottage is on the hillside ahead beyond two gates.
    From Lairg: take the A838 along Loch Shin to Laxford Bridge. Turn left onto the A894. After 4 miles, turn right to Tarbet. Then as above to Hill Cottage.
