The award-winning sausages come from the local butcher, the eggs are free-range and come straight from a farm in Stranraer, the speciality bread is baked in Creetown and all jams and preserves are all homemade or locally produced. Stay here and you are practically on the doorstep of the largest Local Nature Reserve in Britain, Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve. Nearby, on the top floor of the County Building you can watch live CCTV coverage of ospreys, and less than 10 miles away the Galloway Forest Park offers a wealth of wildlife and miles of adventure paradise, including two of the 7stanes mountain biking centres, Glentrool and Kirroughtree and 27 waymarked trails. At night, it is also one of the best spots in the UK for stargazing with the naked eye, as it's the first Dark Sky Park in the UK and one of only two in Europe!
