You can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome and enjoy a relaxed stay with us at Hillcroft which is a traditional croft house, built circa 1920, that has been extended and modernised to provide comfortable en-suite B&B accommodation.
Situated midway between Portree and Dunvegan on the A850, Hillcroft has spectacular views across Loch Snizort beag to the Trotternish hills in the east and the black Cuillin ridge to the south. Hillcroft is a traditional croft house built circa 1920, which has been extended and modernised over the years providing comfortable guest accommodation. There is a bright sunny dining room for morning breakfast and a comfortable sitting room with plenty of books and maps to help you plan your days out, and plenty of CDs and DVDs for your entertainment in theevents. There is also a cosy coal fire to sit round if the evenings are chilly. Hillcroft has spectacular views across Loch Snizort beag to the Trotternish hills in the east with glimpses of the spectacular black Cuillin ridge to the south.
Hillcroft is situated on the A850, midway between Portree, the capital of Skye, and Dunvegan with its historic castle, home to the clan MacLeod, and just a few miles further on you come to the coral beach, passing quite a large seal colony on the way.
Hillcroft is just a short walk from the rocky shore lineof Loch Skeabost beag where you can often see seals and otters, cormorants, oyster catchers and herons, plus a wide variety of seabirds on Aird Point. The Trotternish ridge, the Quirang and the Old Man of Storr are just a short drive away, and the famous Cuillin is about a 40 minute drive.
There is a 9-hole golf course at nearby Skeabost Hotels where a day's fishing can also be arranged, and pony trekking is available at Suledale. For those interested in arts and crafts there is the Edinbane pottery and Kerrol stained glass workshop, and the galleries and craft shops in Waternish which is just a short drive from Hillcroft.
There are many good eating places in Portree, and nearby there is The Inn at Edinbane is just a 5-minute drive away; Greshornish House on the shores of Loch Greshornish approx 15 minutes away; The Loch Bay Fish Restaurant and The Stein Inn and both at Stein on the Waternish peninsula a 20 minute drive; and the renowned The Three Chimneys Restaurant at Colbost just a 35 minute drive from the house.
