Howar Cottage & Nouster

Fly for £20 RETURN from Kirkwall to Orkney's most remote island. June will meet you at the airfield and transport you to Howar Cottage or to Nouster Crofthouse, where you can relax and soak up the peace and tranquility of North Ronaldsay.

If you see a car it is usual to wave at the occupants.

As an independent alternative to B&B, breakfast basics are included. Priced by the day or by the week, see below. See also our website www.howar.co.uk

No need to worry about provisions, we are always on hand to supply your needs at cost. Send us a grocery list to be sure we have your exact requirements.

Howar Cottage is on a rare breed sheep conservation farm and you can even collect fresh eggs from our Scots Dumpy hens.

Nouster Crofthouse overlooks the other end of a beautiful sandy bay. Nouster is spacious and luxurious with a large conservatory looking down on the bay. Get away from it all in comfort at Nouster.
Set in an isolated position overlooking a sandy bay, Nouster is a building listed by Historic Scotland. 50 metres from the shore its views over Nouster Bay are generally agreed to be the best on North Ronaldsay. Wake up in the morning to see seals playing in waves that roll onto a mile of silver sand.
Although isolated, Nouster is a short walk from the island pier and from the bird observatory with its bar and restaurant.
Downstairs the interior is equipped with a fully fitted kitchen, a large traditional oak dining suite, a traditional 3-piece suite and a sofa-bed.
Upstairs the two bedrooms sleep 4/5. Both have views over the bay. The master bedroom has a double and a single bed, the other has two single beds.

There is a separate bathroom with toilet, downstairs and a shower room with toilet upstairs.

Central heating throughout.

Nouster is priced by the week or by the day. £300 per week October to April and £340 May to September.
Shorter lets are not a problem, £42 per day October to April and £47 per day May to September. Plus £12 per stay for cleaning, laundry and transport.

Howar Cottage
The self-contained cottage is part of Howar farm. The farm is almost 80 acres and forms the penninsula at the southernmost tip of the island and includes Burrian Broch. From inside the cottage there are views of Sanday and across beautiful Nouster Bay to the pier and the observatory.
We are vegetarians running a rare breeds conservation farm, so nobody ever gets eaten. You will meet our friendly little primitive sheep of all ages and our herd of alpacas that will eat out of the hand. There is also a colony of well fed feral cats in the threshing barn.
The cottage has two bedrooms sleeping 4. One is a twin bedroom, the other is smaller with two bunks.
There is a large open plan kitchen living room with cooker, fridge freezer and television. There is a shower room and central heating throughout. You have use of our panoramic sea view conservatory at Howar. Laundry facilities are available.

The cottage is priced by the day or by the week. £250 per week October to April and £310 May to September.

Shorter lets are not a problem, £35 per day October to April and £43 per day May to September. Plus £10 per stay for cleaning, laundry and transport.
