Inchcape villa

Inchcape Villa provides a delightful base from which to explore historic Arbroath and surrounding area on the east coast of Scotland.

Visit Arbroath Abbey where the 'Declaration of Arbroath' was signed, take a boat trip out to see the Bellrock Lighthouse or just amble around the picturesque harbour and seafront facilities. The accommodation is well placed for walkers who can enjoy coastal walks, hill walks in the nearby glens or just leisurely strolls in nearby parks and gardens. The accommodation is also well placed for golfers with a good course in Arbroath and many others within a short drive including the Open Golf Course of Carnoustie just 15 minutes away by car or train. Alternatively just enjoy some relaxation within the property at 6 East Newgate, stroll along to the nearby town centre, enjoy a meal in one of the local eateries or return to the house with some famous Arbroath Smokies for lunch or dinner. The property at 6 East Newgate is a semi-detached red sandstone villa which provides accommodation for 6-7 people. It is a spacious family residence close to parks, beaches and family activity facilities but is equally comfortable for a couple just looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday using the facilities provided in and around the house. The accommodation is on two floors. On the ground floor you will find a large bright fully fitted kitchen with a dining area, a comfortable sitting room with entertainment facilities (TV/DVD/CD player and radio). Several board games and books are provided for the use of guests. A shower-room/toilet and single bedroom are also available on the ground floor making the ground floor suitable for someone with walking difficulties and unable to climb stairs. Upstairs there are two twin rooms and a double room all of which are spacious, well decorated and have good storage facilities. The bathroom incorporates a bath with overhead electric shower, wash-hand basin and toilet. All bed linen and towels are supplied.

The property is in a good state of decoration and we ask that visitors do not smoke in the house.

A pictured hallway leads to a fully enclosed private courtyard bordered by flowers and shrubs. An outside table and seating is provided to enjoy the spring/summer/autumn sunshine and enjoy the lovely aromas coming from nearby smokehouses where famous Arbroath smokies are being made. The courtyard leads down to a quaint cellar where washing facilities are available for the use of guests. Outside and inside drying facilities are also provided.

With good walking areas around the property we welcome well behaved dogs to come and stay in the house with their owners.

The property is based in the harbour area of the town and is only a five minute walk to the town centre and shopping area, a very short distance to the Webster Theatre and a ten to fifteen minute walk to the family facilities available at the seafront. A ten minute walk in the opposite direction takes you to Arbroath cliffs from where you can get great views across the sea to the Fife coast or just sit and enjoy the birdlife in the area. There are several good restaurants and many takeaway facilities in the vicinity of the house or you could visit one of the fish-houses in the area and buy some fresh fish to take back to East Newgate to cook in the well equipped kitchen for lunch or dinner.

A folder is provided in the house with details of local eateries, entertainment facilities, places of interest both in Arbroath and the surrounding area as well as train and bus timetables so that you can make the most of your holiday in Arbroath and the surrounding area.
