Detached former gamekeeper's home, Keeper's Cottage is set on the edge of our 14-acres of woodland. Sleeping 7, this historical home has open fireplaces and period features. If you wish to escape the hustle and bustle Keeper's offers peace and relaxation for parents and the older generation and its natural surroundings is a blank canvas for your child's imagination.
Wanna-be pirates can swashbuckle on the pirate ship at the bottom of the shared garden with Ravenstone Stables and Ravenstone Mains Cottage. Or imaginations can be let loose among the large azalea bushes in front of the cottage - is it a Den in there waiting to be explored? Or just a quiet hidey hole to watch the birds flit from branch to branch?
Away from Ravenstone, there's 4 lovely beaches to be explored within 10 minutes drive, quiet country lanes for cycling afficiandos, plenty of bird watching in RSPB locations around this part of Galloway. Stunning gardens to explore or golf courses to challenge. Go back in time in Whithorn to the Cradle of Christianity and learn of the archaelogical explorations that led to the discovery of the 15th century cathedral near today's parish church. Browse the plethora of secondhand bookshops that give Wigtown it's moniker of Scotland's Book Town.
In autumn, winter and early spring, the Dark Skies Park offers an unhindered view of the starry night sky - at Ravenstone the outside lights can be switched off and you can gaze from the front lawn.
The cottage has been refurbished in 2012 to offer maximum comfort for your stay. Central heating offers warmth at the touch of a button, but there's also an open fireplace in the dining room for atmosphere while you regale each other with tales of your day. Should the weather not co-operate fully, games are in the living room to keep you entertained along with the tv/dvd/vcr. Use one of our many cookbooks to create new and exciting meals in our well equipped kitchen. There's a pantry with extra storate, washer, dryer and a downstairs shower room with wc.
Downstairs there's a double bedroom, while upstairs, a spacious king bedroom, child's single room and twin room offer comfort on brand new beds and mattresses. There's a family bathroom complete with bath toys and lots of storage.
This is a superb cottage in a wonderful location, just waiting for your family to come and create a holiday to be remembered. Get away to Galloway and come to stay at Keeper's Cottage.
