Kilbride Cottage

Kilbride Cottage - "A Little Gem". Situated in a very peaceful location amidst idyllic countryside.
Weekly and longer stays available, short breaks too!
Ideal for pets as forestry walk just a stone's throw away!

Kilbride Cottage – “A Little Gem”

Situated in a very peaceful location amidst idyllic countryside, Kilbride was previously a farm cottage built around the late 1880/1890’s. It has been renovated to a high standard in keeping with the original character – has it’s own garden from which, to the west, can be seen the Argyll peninsular and to the south, Ailsa Craig and beyond.

All on one level the cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar and additional eating area, a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and an additional double futon in the lounge (if necessary). The cosy lounge also boasts an open fire for the chillier evenings, or just to sit and watch the flames flickering in the dark! It is ideal for pet owners as there is a very scenic forestry walk, crossing the island to Whiting Bay and Lamlash, just a stone’s throw away!

Weekly and longer breaks available, short breaks catered for too!
Owner managed, weekly breaks starting at £250, inclusive of electricity and bed linen.

A little taster of what you can do and see when you get here ……

·         Kilmory boasts a beautiful sandy beach with long stretches of clean sand – ideal for those long, lazy summer days! (Just turn left at the next roadend past the Creamery)
·         At the Creamery itself you can watch the cheese being made, and there is a small shop where basic supplies can be purchased – don’t forget the cheese too!
·         Approx. 1 ½ miles away lies the picturesque hamlet of Lagg, where the local hotel can be found. The part-time Post Office is located in Kilmory Village Hall.

Beautiful woodwork and pottery has its home at Cloined, just up the road past Kilmory Church with its ancient churchyard. Paintings, cards, and spinning by local artist Roslyn Gibson are tucked away nearby at Glenside, just up the forestry track. All well worth a visit!

·         A little further afield there are 7 golf courses to be conquered, all different and all challenging in their own way, Tennis Courts and Bowling Greens dotted about the island too!

Try your hand at Paragliding, Pony Trekking or negotiating the “ups and downs” cycling.

·         Visit the Holy Isle In Lamlash, or take a rib tour round Ailsa Craig or Pladda and feel the sea air in you hair – exhilarating!!

Arran is renowned for its walks and wildlife!
·         From …. Goatfell to the Witches Step, The King’s caves to the Standing Stones at Machrie. Take in Eas Mor waterfall and continue inland to Loch Garbad – so peaceful you could hear a pin drop! Or just amble along the shoreline and gaze out at the views!
·         Hen Harriers, Golden eagles, Ringed Plover, Fulmar, Grey Seals, Red Deer …. the list could go on forever …. can be spotted on your tour, you’ll be spoilt with choice!

·         Try and count how many wildflowers you can name - your list will be long!

If you don’t feel like cooking, sample the best of local produce at the many restaurants and hotels – Lagg Hotel (just down the road), Kildonan Hotel (just up the road), Kinloch Hotel at Blackwaterfoot, or the Douglas Hotel in Brodick. A light snack at The Coffee Pot in Whiting Bay, or after a round of golf at Shiskine try Felicity’s – all recommended by previous guests. Too many to choose from!!

You are now just a click away from booking the perfect base to explore the island – hope to welcome you soon!
