Kinneskie House

Kinneskie House quality Bed & Breakfast. In a place of beauty peace and tranquility.

Kinneskie House is a large modern bungalow, located 1½ miles from the village of Munlochy on the Black Isle.
Our location is rural and seriously quiet surrounded as we are by farm and wood land, and set in our own 1½ acre grounds.
Kinneskie' has truly awesome south facing views across the Moray Firth and is in an ideal location for touring the Black Isle and the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is only 15 minutes drive from here, where something to suit all tastes can be found.

Your accommodation comprises of either a comfortable double... or a twin bedroom both with tea and coffee making facilities.
You also have access to your very own cosy lounge..... ...and also the conservatory where breakfast is served.
On warmer days perhaps you may like to use the gardens. If you feel so inclined and energetic then a rake and a hoe are readily available'. Should it be needed, we have wireless Broadband access for your laptop computer.

We are lucky with the wildlife here, there are no run of the mill birds for us like starlings and sparrows. instead we get dopey pheasants, finches, tits, woodpeckers, buzzards, red kite, and on rare occasions the odd eagle has been seen overhead. You may even be lucky enough to see the occasional deer or pine marten in the garden too.
Quite close to us, is the fascinating time capsule of a village that is Cromarty. It is here where you can wander its streets and vennels soaking up the atmosphere of almost seven centuries. You can visit its famous Court House Museum where you are invited to explore more of Scotlands secrets. Then visit the cottage of the world-renowned geologist, author, and one of the founders of the Free Church of Scotland Hugh Millar.

An interesting day out for all the family may be had at the Wildlife Park located at Drumsittal near North Kessock on the Black Isle where you can see many animals from wallabies to mercats and llamas to raccoons.

Perhaps you may also like a boat trip to see the Moray Firth Dolphins. There are trips, which leave from Avoch via The Wildlife Tourboat Operators Society to the popular places on the Moray Firth to where they can be best seen.

There is something for almost everyone here on the Black Isle, from fly-fishing to sea angling. There are choices golf courses near by at such places as Fortrose and Rosemarkie, Muir of Ord and Strathpeffer, Invergordon and Tain. There are also 9-hole courses in Alness and Portmahomach. The course at Royal Dornoch is the star of the north.

There are excellent forest walks for all levels. You can try North Kessock, Strathpeffer, Contin, or just in the lanes in and around us.

There are lots of opportunities to be had to learn new skills. The Fairburn Activity Centre near Marybank offers archery, canoeing, orienteering and much more.

Hill walking, Ben Wyvis is the big attraction but there are lots of other excellent walks particularly in Strathconnon and the Fannichs beyond Garve towards Achnasheen.

Pony trekking is also available for all levels at the Black Isle Riding Centre or the Seaforth Riding Centre near Maryburgh.

Munlochy Bay is a nature reserve, home to heronries migrating geese and a whole host of wading birds and wildfowl not mention the wild goats that are there. The village of Munlochy has a famous clootie well too, where lots of rags are draped from the nearby trees after people make a wish.

Another nature reserve is Udale Bay a few miles from Cromarty on the north road. This nature reserve is among the best estuarine mudflats in the country. A Mecca for birdwatchers who come to see countless ducks and geese there.
