There is a downstairs shower room and a large dining room with gas fire which leads from the fully fitted kitchen giving guests an abundance of living space to relax in. There are a range of books, DVD's and games provided should you fancy a quiet night in after a busy day exploring the local area. To the rear of the property there is a small secluded area with garden furniture to sit with a glass of wine in the evening.
The master bedroom is a real feature of the property and has a large traditional wooden sleigh bed ensuring that guests are given a cosy welcome throughout the year. A friendly welcome awaits guests to Kelso, renowned for its cobbled, French style square surrounded by quaint shops and enchanting tea rooms - it was once described by Sir Walter Scott as "the most romantic if not the most beautiful place in Scotland"- and just a gentle stroll from Kirk View. The town also offers a wide arrange of amenities including a cinema, indoor swimming, a pottery and an ice-rink. There are two 18-hole golf courses close by, one being the prestigious Roxburghe course and Springwood Park showground plays host to many international horse riding events throughout the year. Other local events include an annual dog show, the Border Union Trade Show, The British Motorcycle Federation Rally as well as the famous Jim Clarke Rally.
Floors castle (the family seat for the Duke of Roxburghe) is a popular visitor attraction and is softly illuminated at night. The border town of Jedburgh, renowned for its woollen mill and where the Castle Jail and Museum along with Mary Queen of Scots house is 11 miles west. Coldstream, which sits on the salmon rich River Tweed forming a natural boundary between England and Scotland and offering splendid fishing opportunities, is recognised as 'the first true border toon' only 9 miles away. Ramblers and cyclists will absorb the wild and lonely vistas along the many miles of bridleways and foot paths in the surrounding area - the challenging route of 'St Cuthbert's Way' passes close by to Yetholm, a stunning location split into two villages; Kirk Yetholm and Town Yetholm, which straddles the River Bowmont and nestled at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, only 8 miles south. Take a day trip to the cultural city of Edinburgh, renowned for its festivals, arts and music venues, superb castle and Medieval buildings along the Royal Mile (not forgetting to take time for a spot of retail therapy!) only an hour's drive north.
