Kirkbank House is a newly renovated boutique B&B on the edge of the small village of Paxton.
It has a tranquil garden with stunning views of the Cheviots. Sit and idle your time away in the library beside the log fire or explore the country walks and rivers nearby. All the warmth of a B&B with the luxuries and privacy of a small hotel.
John and Lena Tomnay welcome you to Kirkbank House that dates in part from 1760 and although newly refurbished in a contemporary style, many old features remain and have been complemented by art and furniture from the couple's travels in Asia.
The three bedrooms are beautifully presented with super king size beds, The White Company's linen and Siberian goose down duvets. The bathrooms are large, and two have underfloor heating and freestanding baths. If you want to feel pampered and relaxed, this is the place.
All the bedrooms have I-pod docks, yoga mats, bathrobes, LCD TV/DVD with a film library to choose from.
The guests have their own wing of the house, which creates the feel of a small hotel. The large sitting room has open ceilings and exposed beams, a log fire and an abundance of sofas and easy chairs to sit and take in the views.
There is a great pub at the bottom of the lane that serves very good food, as testified by it's inclusion in the Good Food Pub Guide, fine ales and a warm welcome.
There are many walks and cycle trails around, the cliffs and stunning scenery of the east coast are only 10 minutes drive away and Paxton House, a country house open to the public, with its gardens and classical music concerts is only a short walk away. Horse riding, golfing, shooting and fishing are also close by and we can help with any arrangements you would like to make.
