    LENY ESTATE, THE HOME OF THE BUCHANEN FAMILY FOR OVER 1,000 YEARS IS SET IN LENY PARK SURROUNDED BY ACRES OF FARMLAND IN THE LENY HILLS, KILMAHOG, JUST TO THE WEST OF CALLANDER.

    The present house dates from 1513 and is listed as of special architectural and historic interest. It featured in much of the history of Callander, particularly during the Jacobite rebellion when it was used for arms storage and clandestine meetings: this highland estate contains a unique mixture of spacious elegant and tranquil accommodation in historic Leny House (the north wing), a family run baronial country mansion in its own parkland; award winning luxury self-catering lodges and cottages amongst the garden grounds. Within Leny House is the recently restored medieval north wing to provide a sumptuous self-catering apartment with arched open fireplace, oak galleries and panelling. Also available are our award winning lodges and cottages. The 5 solid spruce lodges have been designed and situated on a small peaceful site to take advantage of the stunning views towards the Trossachs and Ben Ledi, long considered to be a particularly beautiful part of Scotland. The private, wild leny glen in which intrepid visitors may walk, and where deer safely graze contains much wildlife including fox, pheasant, grouse, badger, hawk red deer and roe deer this highland estate contains a unique mixture of spacious elegant and tranquil accommodation in historic Leny House (the north wing), a family run baronial country mansion in its own parkland; award winning luxury self-catering lodges and cottages amongst the garden grounds. Within Leny House is the recently restored medieval north wing to provide a sumptuous self-catering apartment with arched open fireplace, oak galleries and panelling. It benefits from the comfort of modern under floor heating and plumbing but the atmosphere and ambience of the Elizabethan age. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with modern appliances installed in oak cabinets to preserve the character. The dining room sits on a mezzanine floor over-looking the lounge and open arched fireplace. Two luxurious bedrooms are furnished with Victorian antiques and have 4 poster beds (5ft) with heraldic drapes on the beds and at the windows. Each has a bathroom with high quality, traditional Victorian reproduction porcelain suites. The stone flagged floors are original to the north wing and are 16th century but has underfloor heating and there is storage and radiant panel heating throughout all rooms on all levels. The north wing is furnished with genuine antiques and artefacts and maybe unsuitable for young children.

    Also available for short term breaks or week long holidays are our award winning lodges (recommended by the impartial "which" magazine) and many of our guests return year after year. The private, wild Leny Glen in which intrepid visitors may walk, and where deer safely graze contains much wildlife including fox, pheasant, grouse, badger, hawk red deer and roe deer, indeed the resident roe deer family are often seen around the lodges and grounds. The lodges and cottages are available throughout the year and are therefore ideal, not only for the summer visitor to Rob Roy country, but for the sportsman who may wish to enjoy the seasonal shooting and fishing in the area. Each spacious lodge is fully carpeted, heated and double glazed with a south facing large verandah and picnic table with seating and each has its own barbeque. All furniture and equipment is of a high standard and includes colour TV (with Freeview channels, washing machine/tumble dryer, bath and shower in fully tiled bathroom, heated towel rail, shaver point, vacuum cleaner, iron and hairdryer. Care has been taken to provide every comfort, luxury and attention to detail. The all electric kitchen contains all necessary items including fridge, microwave, dishwasher, food mixer and coffee percolator. The lodges accommodate four persons in two bedrooms (one double, one twin) but in addition the custom built chesterfield sofa maybe pulled out to provide a substantial, proper double bed. All linen, bedding and towels are provided including kitchen and hand towels and you will find your beds and duvets freshly made up for your arrival. Cots are also free although bedding for cots is not provided. Ample parking space is available adjacent to the lodges for dinghies, sailboards etc and all pathways are lit at night. There are no hidden charges, all facilities and services are provided free except electricity which is metered and charged at the same rate as the electricity company and charged at the end of your stay.
     
    The self catering cottage accommodation comprises two charming Victorian semi detached cottages in their own grounds. The building is south facing, tucked away in a peaceful corner of the estate, down a small lane overlooking fields grazing sheep and cattle.
