From two of our very recent clients - "Our 4th visit and the best weather ever!! Once again we've had a lovely, relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings. Thanks Jan and Gordon"
"This is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in.The location is superb - very peaceful with great views. The accommodation is first class - the standard of decor, equipment and cleanliness is very high. Jan and Gordon are great hosts - nothing is too much trouble. We loved the 'wendy house' with the chimenea - spent most evenings there! A great location for walkers, cyclists or kayakers particularly."
Situated on the private north shore road just over three miles from the Trossachs Pier where the SS Sir Walter Scott sails regularly in the summer months to Stronachlacher, Letter Steading is an ideal base for enjoying all the local area has to offer, surrounded by wonderful wild countryside. There is fantastic walking, cycling, local history, hill climbing, riding - the opportunities are endless. An added bonus is the private fishing we offer - we can even organise private ghillie lessons if required. For those of you just wanting to get away from it all and relax this is an ideal spot to unwind in one of the most beautiful areas in Scotland. Rest in the very private area at the back of the cottage, light the barbeque maybe and enjoy the stunning views of the loch and beyond to Ben Lomond.
Letter Steading is a detached cottage all on one floor and has been sympathetically renovated to show off its thick walls and beautiful stonework. It has two bedrooms - one twin and one double, both carpeted and you will be provided with good quality bedlinen and towels which are included in the price. We can fit another bed in for a small child if required, and also offer a cot, highchair and baby bath. In the open plan kitchen/eating/sitting area there is a wood burning stove as well as electric wall mounted radiators, and it has an easy to keep clean oak floor. The kitchen area is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge, small freezer, electric oven and hob, and everything you might need for a self catering holiday home from home. The shower-room has a large shower cubicle, heated towel rail and underfloor heating. It also has grab rails in the shower and near the toilet, with a pull down rail as well so is ideal for disabled guests; the doors are extra wide and there is easy access from the car to the front door of the cottage. We also offer a washing machine and drying area at the rear of the cottage, and an extra small freezer. Nearby there is somewhere to hang wet clothes if the rain catches you while you're out walking.
Outside there is a private area to the rear of the cottage, with barbeque and comfortable seating. Although there are no loch views from the cottage itself, there are lovely views from the new decking area where there is plenty of seating around a big teak table. Alternatively, seating is available at the front in the evening where you can take in the last rays of the sun, watching the birds feeding at the seed and nut feeders - all kinds of tits and finches, siskins, dunnocks, robins and a pair of lesser spotted woodpeckers. Or why not take advantage of the 'Wendy House' - you can light the chiminiere on cooler nights and maybe partake of a glass or two of your favourite tipple whilst drinking in the fantastic views of the sunset over the loch and Ben Lomond in the distance.
Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the National Park - bring your own bikes (safe storage provided) or hire from the Trossachs Pier, take the boat up to Stronachlacher and cycle back on the private surfaced road. The Steading is in an idyllic situation from which to explore the myriad of cycle tracks and walking paths on the forest roads and trails. tracks and walking paths on the forest roads and trails. Loch Katrine boasts wonderful wildlife - birds of prey, deer, pine marten, otters and red squirrels can occasionally be spotted. We have two boats for use on the loch and for the private fishing we offer - one is a rowing boat and the other a Canadian kayak. It is only a short stroll to the lochside beach and some of the most stunning views you could imagine.
And other testimonials......."Beautiful cottage - luxury! So cosy especially with the log fire. Such a peaceful haven, time seems to stand still. Such a joy to stay here.....thank you"
"Our 3rd visit and relaxing as usual. We love to stay here and we'll never spend our holidays at another place in Scotland! It always feels like home and you both know how much we love this place. Thanks again for your warm, warm welcome. See you in 5 months!"
