Lon Ban is a modern comfortable house capable of sleeping six people in three large bedrooms, all are en-suite. What ever the weather Lon Ban is an ideal base to explore from, take your bikes, canoes or what ever else you need as there is ample secure storage in the detached garage. In the main hall there is a large cupboard where the pipes for the underfloor heating is sited, this makes an ideal place to dry your walking gear and boots.
Skye has many facets to its character from dramatic mountains with some of the world's best climbing to hidden gems like the Fairy Glen near Uig. Take a walk to the Fairy Pools at the base of the Cuillin to see sparkling clear water cascade down the rivers that are formed in the Cuillin.
Visit the ClanDonald centre in Sleat, Dunvegan Castle or the Museum of Island Life in Kilmiur to learn about some of the history of Skye. Visit Staffin museum to see dinosaur fossils. To learn about the Sea Eagle or the Golden Eagle stop off at the Aros Centre on the outskirts of Portree.
Skye takes time to explore and beguiles visitors world wide to come back.
Autumn brings wonderful hues of purple, red, green, yellow and brown. Brave a snowy winter to see the land transformed into different shades of white.
Facilities in the house
Lon Ban is a modern fully equipped house, the heating is via an oil fired burner sited outside the house. Downstairs is heated underfloor whereas upstairs is heated by radiators. We also have an Xplair heat recovery system through-out the house.
Bedrooms
Upstairs in Lon Ban there are two spacious bedrooms, one king size (B1) and one twin bedded (B2), both have views to the moor at the back of the house and the sea-loch to the front, both rooms have radiators. Downstairs is a third double-bedroom (B3). All the rooms are ensuite, B2 has a pea shaped bath with overhead shower, B1 and B3 have large walk-in showers, WC,wash-hand basins, lit mirrors and shaver points. All the bedrooms have built in wardrobes, bedside cabinets, wall mounted bedside lights, a dressing table with stool, chest of drawers and combi dvd/tv's. Upstairs is carpeted in a beige wool carpet whereas the whole downstairs has a high quality floor covering compatible with the under-floor heating system.
Kitchen
Modern white gloss units, full size dishwasher, full size cooker and a freestanding Larder/Freezer. There is also a toaster, coffee machine, microwave and a food processor. A good range of sharp knives, mixing bowls, casserole dishes, roasting tins and all the usual cutlery, crockery, pots and pans. The kitchen is also large enough to accommodate a table and chairs for six. There are French doors that open out onto a deck area.
Dining room
Oak dining table and chairs, place-mats and sideboard. A table cloth is also provided.
Lounge
In here we have two two seater leather sofas and one three seater leather sofa, combi dvd-tv, freesat tv, coffee table and two side tables with lamps. All the lower rooms have underfloor heating that can be independently controlled via a key pad.
Family bathroom
Large double-ended bath, wc, wash-hand basin and shaver point.
Front Porch
Large area with ample space for boots,shoes and outerwear. Console table with local information.
Utility
This is at the back door and in here we have the washing machine.
Decking
The decking is to side of the house giving wonderful views to the sea-loch Loch Harport and the Cuillin beyond. It has ramped access to allow a wheelchair user access to the house via the French doors that open into the kitchen. We also have a wooden table and chairs so that you can enjoy the views while eating out. Wonderful in the morning when the sun is shining.

Bookings
We can be flexible, you tell us your requirements and we will try to accommodate them. This house is available for short breaks which can start on any day of the week. Please check with us before planning your trip to make sure that the date you are looking for is available.
We have only one week with dates free; 13th to 16th of June, next available dates are from the 25th of August.
