MacNab House, near Talisker Distillery & the Cuillin Hills, sleeps eight people in four en-suite bedrooms. Within walking distance to the pub in the village of Carbost. Sea views of Loch Harport to the front & the Cuillin Hills to the back
MacNab House is ideal for climbers, walkers and ramblers as it is only a short 5 to 10 minute drive to the base of the Cuillin Hills . The 'Old Inn' in the village of Carbost is our local pub, where you can have a drink and eat it is only a short scenic walk or a few minutes by car from the house, or, go along to Seamus's bar at the Sligachan Hotel where you can introduce yourself scotch malt whisky from their extensive range of single malts. At the Talisker Distillery you can join a distillery tour to find out about the making and maturing of a Single Malt Spirit into a Single Malt Whisky.
THE AREA
Surrounding the house is evidence of man farming the land for centuries; the old run-rig system can be seen scarring the land. At nearby Satran there is evidence of a cleared settlement. A short walk across the road will bring you to the shoreline where an abundance of wildlife can be viewed. It is also possible to see salmon jumping in the sea-loch before swimming up river Drynoch to spawn. To learn abit about the crofting history of Skye visit the museum of island life in Kilmuir, for clans Dunvegan Castle, Armadale Castle or Eilean Donan.
FACILITIES
The house has a large kitchen, four bedrooms all en-suite, large family bath-room, dining-room, sitting-room, entrance hall and a utility-room. The house is fully double-glazed and centrally heated. All the rooms, including the entrance hall have radiators that can be independently controlled.
On the upper floor there are two spacious bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a king-size metal framed bed, two bedside tables, dressing table and small wardrobe, en-suite shower-room with WC and wash-hand basin. Bedroom 2 has two single beds, en-suite shower-room with WC and wash-hand basin. Each bed has a bedside cabinet and also in the room is a set of drawers and small dressing table.
On the ground floor there are two more bedrooms, the sitting room, dining room and kitchen. Bedroom 3 has a king-size bed, bedside tables, dressing table & stool and a large built in wardrobe with mirrored doors. This room is also en-suite with a large shower, wc & wash-hand basin. Bedroom 4 has a double-size bed, bedside cabinets, a large built in wardrobe with mirrored doors, also en-suite with a large shower, wc & wash-hand basin.
A large fully tiled family bathroom is also on the ground floor with full-size bath, wc & wash-hand basin
The sitting room is to the front of the house overlooking views of Loch Harport and Drynoch House and has three three-seater leather sofas, TV with freeview, DVD player and a cassette CD player, coffee table, side table and side board. There is also an electric feature fire.
The dining room has a side board and extending table that can seat 8 people.
The kitchen has a large electric range cooker with extractor hood, coffee machine, toaster, full-sized dishwasher and kettle. There are two full sets of crockery and ample serving dishes. For cooking there are roasting tins, casserole dishes, lasagne dish, large pots & pans, pizza tins and an electric mixer.
The utility room houses the washing-machine and oil fire boiler for the central heating and water.
