Mansefield House, Arrochar, Loch Long, Argyll And Bute, G83 7AG

Stunning Victorian self catering house accommodating up to 12 people in 5 bedrooms, with a warm, comfortable and homely character and all modern amenities. Large, private gardens on the shores of Loch Long.

Uninterrupted views of Loch Long and the Arrochar Alps. Loch Lomond 2 miles.

Mansefield House is a warm, comfortable and homely house perfectly suited to families with young children, multi-generational family groups, or groups celebrating a special occasion, as well as walkers and cyclists ready to explore the wonderful Argyll Forest Park or Arrochar Alps. A lockable shed is available for bikes. We can offer professional catering for the night you arrive, a special waited upon dinner party, or catering for every night of your holiday. Fully qualified childcare can be arranged at weekends or in the evening, should you require it. Well behaved pets are welcome.

The house is large enough to accommodate for up to 12 people comfortably given the large and spacious rooms. The generous dining room has a cosy wood burning stove for the long winter evenings and the not inconsiderable sitting room with high, corniced ceilings and cosy wood burning stove has fabulous views out over the loch. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need - fridge, freezer, dishwasher - and has a large gas range cooker to rustle up delicious meals for your large party. There's a fully equipped laundry room which doubles up as a drying room in case you get caught in the notorious Scottish rain! There's also a games room which houses a 6ft snooker table and numerous board games for rainy days.

There are 5 bedrooms: 2 double en-suites (one with stunning loch views), a double family room with a cot and views over the loch and gardens, another double and a twin bedroom with 2 extra guest beds. Linen and towels are provided and beds are made up for your arrival.

Situated on the shores of Loch Long, Mansefield House has uninterrupted views of Loch Long and the Arrochar Alps. Loch Lomond lies 2 miles to the East. The house stands in an elevated position with large private gardens of mature shrubs, trees and lawns. An enclosed patio and lawned garden area leads off from the games room, with table and chairs, bench, and picnic table, and a large bbq. The large front lawn leads down to a quiet road, which separates the house from the beach and Loch Long. Private parking for five cars.

The pebbled beach on the shores of Loch long is accessible from steps across the quiet road at the end of the garden. The Loch is tidal, and retreats far out at low tide revealing mussel beds that can be picked and eaten. Non-tidal Loch Lomond is just two miles away, with smaller pebbled beaches and shallow gradients into the water, perfect for paddling and swimming.

We can offer professional catering for the night you arrive (with a meal waiting in the fridge ready to reheat), or a special waited upon dinner party, or indeed dinner cooked for you every night.

We are delighted to be able to offer professionally guided sea kayak eco adventures on Loch Long, open canoe safaris on Loch Lomond, mountain treks, trail bike rides and bushcraft and survival treks, in association with Wild by Nature. Your personal group guide will meet you at Mansefield House and provide you with all necessary equipment and training.

Arrochar is an attractive West Highland village, with a well supplied village shop, green grocer, post office, petrol station, coffee shop, and newspaper shop. There is an abundance of things to do in the Arrochar and Loch Lomond area. You will quite simply never get bored. The perfect base for touring, head west to Dunoon, Inveraray, Oban and the West Highlands, or take the opposite direction to Callander, Aberfoyle, Stirling and the Trossachs - all within the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Or take the train northwards through Glencoe to Fort William or Mallaig on the scenic West Highland Railway Line. For walking and climbing, the area is second to none. There are numerous local low-level walks from the front door, as well as more demanding walks slightly further afield. The Arrochar Alps include four Munros (mountains over 3000 ft), ideal for the more adventurous hill walker. Take a cruise on Loch Lomond; hire a mountain bike and explore the Argyll Forest Park; go pony trekking; play golf; hire a boat on Loch Long; go fishing; or visit one of the many visitor attractions in the area. Right on the doorstep is Mansefield Studios, pottery and craft gallery, which showcases premium quality ceramics, photography, textiles and jewellery. So if a short pottery course or a shopping spree is what you are after, Mansefield House is your place!
