From Skye Bridge A87 follow signs to Broadford. Turn left onto the A881 Elgol road and follow this for approx 14 miles.Satnav users - avoid Mallaig unless you have checked ferry availability!
Public Transport Directions
From the nearest information centre:- From Portree Tourist Iinformation Centre follow the A87 to Broadford. As you come into Broadford, turn right at the Broadford Hotel onto the A881.From Broadford TIC, head north for approx 500 metre and turn left onto the A881 Elgol road.
Getting there by railway:- The world famous Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh line will take you through the heart of the Highlands to its terminus near the Skye Bridge.
Or try the steam train (May - Oct) from Fort William to Mallaig and catch the ferry, the proper way to start a Hebridean holiday.
Getting there by aeroplane:- Inverness Airport is around 2.5 hours away by hire car via Loch Ness. Glasgow Airport is 5 hours away by car or a little longer by coach service as far as Broadford.
Getting there by ferry:- You can still come over the sea to Skye by travelling the Road to the Isles to Mallaig and catching the ferry to Armadale in south Skye. Cars are now carried throughout the year, but please check. If you are adventurous and really want to avoid the Skye Bridge turn off the A87 at Shiel Bridge and follow the signs for the tiny Glenelg Ferry (summer only) to Kylerhea in south Skye.
