    The Merchant's House is a spacious four bedroom holiday home of great character elegantly renovated for relaxed comfort.

     

    Individually styled with relaxed Orkney character the house is Ideal for the larger group or family with generously sized rooms and all have magnificent views over Scapa Flow. The house is fitted with high spec bathrooms with two en-suite on the first floor one with a luxury cast iron roll top bath and a family bathroom on the second floor serves the two upper bedrooms - one of these has an en-suite WC.
     
    The large kitchen diner is very well equipped for proficient cooks and seats 8 comfortably. You will find a generous welcome pack of local bakery and breakfast provisions ideal for a late arrival and the cooks larder kept stocked with olive oil, condiments, herbs and spices, rice, flour, sugar. Tea and coffee are also provided. Local shops are a short walk away with a delicatessen, excellent butcher, bakery and the local supermarket is open daily. Fish, crab and lobster can be purchased directly from local processors for unforgettable eat-in dining. There are also take-aways available nearby if you wish to eat in and prefer not to cook. Taste local dishes from the menus at local restaurants, pubs and cafes.
     
    A drying area at the back entrance keeps wet weather gear away from the living areas. If weather keeps you indoors, the Bose i-pod dock and BT Vision will entertain you or browse the many magazines and books, Orkney information folders to plan your next trip out to or begin a craft!
     
    The shared courtyard and pier garden is great for eating outdoors or just sit and admire the outstanding view of Stromness Waterfront with its unique stone built piers and watch the sea wild life, boats and ferries passing by.
     
    All outdoor activities are with easy distance, the golf club, loch and sea fishing, cliff top walks, cycle hire, birdwatching from wetland hides , seal watching from rock pooled beaches, or take a ferry to Hoy from the harbour for a day to remember and walk to the Old Man. Try any or all of these and you are certain of a memorable holiday.
