    For the first time self-catering holiday cottages are available with the highest standard of finishes and furnishings. Out-of-doors there are easily accessible cycleways and pathways allowing further exploration of the estate parkland, with Scotland's Finest Stately Home, Hopetoun House, nearby.

    Mid Lodge Cottage is an exclusive self-catering holiday cottage for six people set within a secluded location in the heart of Hopetoun Estate, yet very near Edinburgh . Situated within idyllic, wooded parkland, the cottage is totally private with wonderful, expansive views. Step outside the cottage to the deer park and the splendid facade of Hopetoun House comes into view. Mid Lodge is a classic stone cottage situated in the very heart of the idyllic Hopetoun Fallow Deer Park, offering roomy, beautifully appointed accommodation for up to 6 people. The location is outstanding, providing peace, tranquillity and fantastic views.

    Mid Lodge is newly refurbished to a standard and quality in keeping with Hopetoun. The accommodation is very spacious, yet comfortable and convenient with sitting room, large dining-kitchen, three double bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite shower room and a roomy family bathroom.

    Our guests staying in our holiday cottages not only enjoy proximity to Edinburgh and central Scotland but also have access to Hopetoun clay shooting and simulated game shooting at discounted rates as well as a free visit to Hopetoun House and free access to the House Grounds during opening hours. Other nearby outdoor activities include golf, fishing and horse riding. From time to time both public and private events are held within the Deer Park and a stay at Mid Lodge will provide a fantastic opportunity to see these events first hand.

    The cottage can be booked for a minimum of seven nights with the changeover day being on a Friday. The price includes all fuel costs, linen and towels, a welcome pack and fresh flowers on arrival.

    Road Directions

    Follow the signs for the Forth Road and take the last exit before the bridge signposted South Queensferry. Take the A904, pass through the village of Newton and watch out for the first turning on your right. The first building you reach is Hopetoun Estate Office where you pick up the keys and are taken to the cottage.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre:- The nearest TIC is Edinburgh. Follow the signs for the Forth Road and take the last exit before the bridge signposted South Queensferry. Take the A904, pass through the village of Newton and watch out for the first turning on your right. The first building you reach is Hopetoun Estate Office where you pick up your keys and are taken to the cottage.


    Getting there by railway:- The nearest railway station is Dalmeny. From here you will require a taxi to the Hopetoun Estate Office or if possible we will provide a pickup.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- Hopetoun is only a 10 minute drive from Edinburgh International Airport. The 747 bus leaves every 20 minutes and will drop off on the South Side of the Forth Road Bridge. A taxi will be required or a pick up will be arranged if possible. A taxi can also be taken from the Airport.

    Getting there by ferry:- The nearest ferry is Rosyth, 8 miles from Hopetoun, where you can arrive via the Rosyth to Zebrugge Ferry which provides a daily service. A taxi will be required from Rosyth to Hopetoun.
