Monday Cottage

Anne Rankin, a retired Catering Manager, warmly welcomes you on your arrival at Monday Cottage where you will enjoy her special breakfasts.

Along with oatmeal porridge and the traditional Scottish breakfast. The vegetarian breakfast includes poached egg on a cheese scone accompanied with glazed apple and sauted mushrooms. Anne also offers a weekend special breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Warm oven scones and homemade jam and marmalade are a speciality.

Balloch is the Southern Gateway to Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Monday Cottage is situated on a quiet residential part of the village which is an ideal starting point for various places of interest. Anne has a good knowledge of, and information about, local places to visit.

Stirling Castle is 40 minutes by car and the Lake of Menteith - Scotland's only lake - is 30 minutes. These two attractive sites can be incorporated into one trip.

Loch Lomond Shores, the new shopping Mall and Visitor Centre, is 5 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot.

Loch Katrine, in the heart of the Trossachs and a main source of water for the city of Glasgow, is less than an hour's drive. At Loch Katrine you can sail the length of the loch on the 'Sir Walter Scott', a steamship which is over one hundred years old.

The city of Glasgow is 40 minutes by train from Balloch station. The Hill House, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, is situated in Helensburgh - 15 minutes by car.
