Monorene Guest House

Welcome to the Monorene Guesthouse, where a warm Scottish Borders welcome awaits you by Malcolm and Joan Hawgood.

Galashiels is in the geographical heart of the borders and is a great central base to explore the area.

Places to visit in Galashiels include, Old Gala House, now a museum and art gallery set in landscaped gardens. The Borders is full of historic places to visit: including Abbotsford House the home of Sir Walter Scott only 2 miles away and just a little further on, Melrose Abbey, Melrose is also the home of the world famous rugby 7s held in April.

Further afield there are many more, historic houses, visitor attractions, museums, Roman Ruins to explore and all set in the most beautiful scenery that can be found in Scotland.

Galashiels offers easy access to golfing (within half an hours travelling there are numerous top class golf courses), take advantage of Scotland's Best Selling Golf Pass - Freedom of the Fairways. Opportunities abound for activities in the area, walking is excellent at any time of the year or what about fishing on the River Tweed which is internationally famous for salmon fishing. Cyclists can join the 90 mile Tweed Cycle Way in Galashiels, whilst hikers can join the Southern Upland Way as it passes through.

Local events include the Braw Lads Gathering in late June commemorating the history of Galashiels and Gala rugby 7's normally held in the Spring.
Monorene is ideally located in the centre of Galashiels with private parking, adjacent to the Bus station and some of the best shopping in the Borders. Our home is an ideal base for touring the Borders/Edinburgh. Whatever your interests, you'll find something in the Borders, and at the comfortable Monorene Guesthouse, your bed and breakfast stay will be an enjoyable, relaxing experience.
