    Muirfad Farmhouse which is situated close to Newton Stewart and within walking distance of Kirroughtree outdoor centre,is on the edge of Galloway Forest Park,which has been officially unveiled as the first Dark Sky Park in the UK.

    The house is overlooked by Cairnsmore and offers a warm and comfortable welcome to guests. Muirfad is a typical Galloway Farm house believed to have been built in the mid 19th century by the Duke of Bedford, and retains many of its original features but with the comforts of modern day living.
    All bedrooms are en-suite and have satelite/digital tv, Tea and coffee making facilities, There is also a well appointed sun lounge for guest's relaxation and pleasure.
    The house is situated in over an acre of mature gardens and is conveniently placed within easy access of Newton Stewart and Creetown Via the A75 by car or bus. Muirfad Farmhouse is a perfect base for exploring the hidden Gem of Scotland which is Dumfries and Galloway.
    We are ideally placed for site seeing i.e castles, Gardens, coastal areas, and the Market town of Newton Stewart with a variety of shops, Restaurants, Cafe's, Cinema, leisure centre with swimming pool and riverside walks ,Golf, Fishing, Cycling and Walking.
    We can provide secure cycle storage and drying facilities.

    Road Directions

    From Carlisle and the M6 take the A74 North as far as the junction for the A75 and Dumfries continue west for approx 65 miles, after the second exit from creetown, Take the 1st road on the right which is just less than 2miles and Muirfad is the first house on the right.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre:- From Newton Stewart T I C take the A75 east towards Dumfries for approx 3.5 miles with the Stables Tea Room on your right, take the second turning on the left and Muirfad is the 1st house on the right.

    Getting there by railway:- From Dumfries take the bus for Newton Stewart and ask for Muirfad Farm house we are directly across the road.
    From Stranraer take the bus for Dumfries and ask for Muirfad Farmhouse at Palnure.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- The airports are Edinburgh Glasgow and Prestwick , with bus and taxi service to the nearest station with trains to either Stranraer or Dumfries with interconnecting bus service ask for Muirfad farmhouse at Palnure.

    Getting there by ferry:- There are many ferries to Cairnryan and Stranraer from these terminals take the A75 towards Dumfries, continue for 28 miles, past Newton Stewart, Blackcraig 2miles past Blackcraig is Palnure with the stables tea rooms on the right take the 2nd road on the left Muirfad is the house on the right.
