From the south side you enter the village through a stone arch.

NEGARA offers  two bedrooms; a double and twin/king which are spacious , bright and in a quiet location.  The rooms are tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard with vanity units, comfort trays, hairdryers etc. Both rooms are next to a fully tiled shower room and cleanliness in all areas in paramount at Negara.

Along with a very warm welcome Negara is also noted for GREAT breakfasts in the period dining room using local produce. The lovely Lounge with open fire is a great place to relax and unwind after a day out exploring what the area has to offer,  or perhaps spend some time reading in the pleasant garden. A drying area for inclement days and a laundry service is offered on request. Off street parking and night storage for bikes is also available.
EDZELL VILLAGE  itself has two hotels both approx 300 yards from the door that serve very good meals. Also in the village there is a cafe/chip shop, post office, chemist, paper shop, hairdresser  and gift shop which makes Edzell very self sufficient. There is also a Church of Scotland on Edzell Muir. The Muir is also a park with swings, slide etc for the children to enjoy together with picnic areas.
Two minutes from the door of Negara is a beautiful  walk along the River Esk which has a salmon leap and the whole delightful walk takes approximately 2 hours. Good fishing too with a permit can also be done on various parts of the river.
EDZELL GOLF COURSE is approximately 500 yards away and a lovely course to play with lots of other good courses a short drive.
EDZELL CASTLE a ruin is roughly a mile away  and has a lovely Italian Garden to enjoy.
There are many other walks in Glen Esk a short drive, for example Loch Lee and the Queens Well which was erected and named after a visit from Queen Victoria after her husband Prince Albert died.
Four miles to the next nearest village of FETTERCAIRN is a whisky distillery of the same name and well worth a visit to take a guided tour of the whisky process and taste their lovely product.

EDZELL is also fairly close to the coast as well with mostly long beautiful golden sandy beaches. There are a number of interesting fishing villages along the way to some favourites being  JOHNSHAVEN, CATTERLINE, ST CYRUS, LUNAN BAY and AUCHMITHIE. A lovely cliff walk at ARBROATH is most enjoyable and all are within a 25 mile radius from Edzell and well worth days out.

ARBROATH for those interested in history which is also on the coast and where the signing of the Declaration of Scottish Independence took place in 1320 at Arbroath Abbey. The Stone of Destiny used in the crowning ceremony of Kings and Queens was stolen from Westminster Abbey, London on Christmas day in 1950 and was found on the High Alter of Arbroath Abbey on April 1951 after a long and arduous search by various police forces is also of historic interest.
THE BELL ROCK  LIGHTHOUSE built by Stevenson sits 11 miles out to sea off Arbroath and the Signalling Tower for the Lighthouse which housed the 4 lighthouse keeper's  and their families is now an interesting museum  about how the Lighthouse was built and what life was like for the keepers, as well as local business  in the town.
ARBROATH is also renowned for having a large fishing fleet in the past and is home to the famous ARBROATH SMOKIE  which is even sold in Harrods. It is classed as a delicacy made with haddock which are hung in pairs and slowly smoked over wood chips. This method originated from Demark and the Scandinavian countries when some of these people came here to settle. Some of the smoke houses near the harbour are happy to show visitors how they do this on certain days.
GLAMIS CASTLE which was the childhood home of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother is a lovely castle and open the public about a half hour drive from Edzell
NEGARA in EDZELL is the perfect place to stay, relax and take home special memories of the village and places of natural beauty and interest within a 25 mile radius.

PRICES for Bed and Breakfast are FROM £30 pppn with special rates for long stays 4 nights plus and for children under 13 years. Sorry no pets.
