Nevis View

A warm welcome awaits you at 'Nevis View' which is situated on a quiet estate of 24 houses, just off the 'Road to the Isles'. We are not far from Loch Linnhe and the entrance to the Caledonian Canal.

The architect-designed houses, which all face south, were built in the early 60s and are of an unusual design, which won many architectural awards when first built. The bedrooms either look onto the mountains (Ben Nevis / Glen Nevis) or onto the garden and the hills beyond the southern shore of Loch Linnhe.

'Nevis View' is in the village of Corpach, 4.5 miles from the centre of Fort William. It lies just off the A830 (Road to the Isles) and is within five minutes walk of the nearest bus stop and ten minutes from the railway station in Corpach, through which (from May - October) runs the steam train which featured in the Harry Potter films.

We cater for Vegetarians, Vegans and those who eat meat and offer Evening Meals and Packed Lunches, but require advance notice for these (usually 24 hours).

The house is a good base from which to explore the local area and guests are welcome to test our local knowledge in order to help plan their days' activities, whatever their interests! A warm welcome awaits you at 'Nevis View' which provides an excellent base from which to explore the local and wider area.

This architect-designed house (on an Estate which won many architectural awards in the 60s, when it was first built) sits in a large garden and is of a very unusual design. It gives visitors approaching it from the road, the impression that it is rather small - only a single storey high. However, the bedroom area is a full two storeys high, though this is split-level within the rest of the house. A glance at houses across the road shows what is hidden from the approaching visitor's view and what the rest of the house is truly like. Once inside, many guests have commented on how much more spacious the interior is than they initially thought it was going to be!

'Nevis View' is 4.5 miles by road from the centre of Fort William (the Outdoor Capital of the U.K.) and lies within the village of Corpach, on the A830, 'The Road to the Isles', where there is a Post Office, a Co-op Supermarket open until 22.00 every day, a Hotel, a Bar offering a varied weekly programme of entertainment and an award-winning mineral and crystal exhibition 'Treasures of the Earth'. The southern entrance to the Caledonian Canal lies in Corpach and 'Neptune's Staircase' a flight of 7 locks on this Canal, is close by. The extremely popular steam train, which featured in the Harry Potter films, passes through Corpach station almost every day from mid-May until the end of Oct. Nevis Range, 7.5 miles away, offers Skiing and Snow Boarding in winter, Downhill and Cross-Country Mountain Biking and a High Wire Adventure Course in summer. The gondola is open all-year round, but the running of all activities, including the gondola, is subject to weather conditions. Bike hire is available locally as are sailing and kayaking courses. A wide range of winter and summer mountain activities and courses are also provided locally.

For those relying on public transport, the nearest railway station and bus stops are a short walk away. We always have the current local and long-distance rail and bus timetables along with the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry timetable for guests to refer to should they need or want to use these forms of transport. Car Parking is on the road by the house. Some secure places for parking bicycles are available.

We have an extensive knowledge of Fort William and Lochaber, having lived here for over 35 years. However, we don't pretend to know everything and we're prepared to find the answer to any question guests might ask, in order to help them enjoy their holiday better!
We enjoy skiing, climbing, hill-walking and diving and can give information and advice to our guests regarding these sports, or we can easily find someone who can, if we are unable to. A Drying Room is available for drying wet clothes overnight.

In the last few years, ‘Nevis View’ has been extensively refurbished. All bedrooms have been redecorated and the furniture, furnishings and carpets replaced and upgraded. The (shared) Shower Room has also been modernised. Broadband is available and each bedroom has a colour t.v., a clock/radio and tea/coffee making facilities.

A Single Room and a Family Room are always available. The Family Room can accommodate up to three people and can be let either as a Triple, a Double or a Twin. On occasions a small Double Room, which can also be let as a Single, is also available.

Evening Meals (two or three courses, with tea or coffee) and Packed Lunches are available. These require advance notice, usually 24 hours. We are Vegetarians, but can and do cater for Vegans and the more usual meat-eaters. We prefer to be advised in advance if there are any special dietary requirements needed by our guests.
