Newark Farmhouse B&B

Located in the Southern Uplands and offering magnificent views of the River Valley and a wide range of facilities, this award-winning farmhouse provides an ideal location for relaxing or for an active break.

Set on a working farm, within walking distance of pretty Sanquhar, and in a prime location to first-class fishing spots, mounting biking and walking trails, this attractive period farmhouse offers a warm welcome and the perfect base for making the most of glorious Galloway. Each of the homely en suite rooms sleep four, are tastefully decorated, and furnished to a very high standard with comfortable beds, a TV and tea and coffee facilities as well as many home-from-home comforts which will make your stay a great one. The spacious ground floor room, with its wheelchair-friendly en suite, is suitable for people with mobility difficulties.

After a restful night's sleep, set yourself up for the day with one of Newark's delicious breakfasts. Enjoy a full Scottish breakfast or one of the lighter options available. If you plan to head out early, breakfast can be served at a time which suits you, while tasty packed lunches and home cooked evening meals can also be organised if required.

There is also B&B box and grazing accommodation available for horses. The region offer perfect riding country, why not enjoy the luscious countryside, rolling hills and glistening lochs from the saddle?

Alternatively, if you are a keen angler, the farm is situated in the middle of the Upper Nithsdale beat of the River Nith and fishing permits can be arranged for you - just ask when booking. You can also take advantage of the first-class walking trails nearby. Scotland's coast-to-coast footpath (212 miles long) from Portpatrick to Cockburnpath passes nearby and there are many other less ambitious walks within easy reach, including the farm trail where you can safely see the animals and try to spot the wealth of wildlife in the area.

In pretty Sanquhar, go swimming at the leisure centre, play a round on the challenging golf course and indulge in delicious food from the cosy cafes, traditional pubs and quality restaurants.
