As you can see over the garden gate, we are very close to the beach.

Set in a stunning location by the sea in the quiet village of Carsethorn, this lovely cottage enjoys sweeping views over the Solway Firth, Criffel and the Galloway coastline beyond.

North Corner Cottage is set in a beautiful, quiet and undiscovered part of Scotland, within easy reach of the border and motorways. The cottage looks out onto a magnificent coastline, perfect for watching the migrating birds on the Solway Firth. Situated directly on the coast, with views over the water to watch the porpoises following the shrimping boats and if you are really lucky, to see the otters.

At low tide you could walk along the beach looking for the many fossils that can be found there, before turning inland to visit the historic cottage of John Paul Jones. Or head up the hill from the village and climb Criffel, with magnificent views over the Solway and to the Cumbrian hills in the distance. Continue on and down into New Abbey to enjoy teas at The Abbey Teashop and then catch the bus home.

Mabie Forest, outside Dumfries, and just a few miles from the cottage, is the original mountain biking venue in Dumfries and Galloway, and offers every level of challenge to the cyclist. If you want something gentler, then pedal along the local quiet roads perhaps to Southerness and visit the lighthouse and enjoy a bag of chips or an ice cream. On a little further to Kippford, a pretty village set on the Urr estuary and enjoy a pint at the Anchor or a cup of tea, over looking the boats moored on the river. You could bring your bicycle with you or hire one either from Mabie or Dalbeattie.

The Cottage sleeps four and is laid out over three floors. On the ground floor there is an internal porch which leads through to the hall. Off the hall is one double bedroom with coastal views, and one twin bedroom. Both bedrooms have electric blankets and hairdryers with plenty of hanging space. The bathroom has a separate shower and bath. Under the stairs there is a washer/dryer, iron and ironing board. There are also outside drying facilities. Up the stairs on the first floor is the light and airy kitchen which is well equipped with an electric cooker and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The top floor has a large lounge with a wood burning stove and dining area. There is a TV with Freeview, DVD player with a small selection of DVD’s, and a CD player. This room has sea views across the Solway as well as views to Criffel.
The cottage is heated throughout either with storage heaters of electric panel heaters.

There is small enclosed garden with garden furniture and a summer house. Parking is just outside the gate for one car with further parking nearby.
