Nye Swarthoull

Nye Swarthoull located in Hillswick in the north mainland of Shetland is a full sized three-bedroomed house giving you the room you need to be comfortable with the whole family.

The master bedroom is equipped with a double bed, the middle bedroom is ideal for the kids and has a set of full size bunk beds, and the final bedroom normally has two single beds. We also have an additional set of bunk beds and a cot that can be set up if required.

The bathroom is equipped with both a bath and a shower so whether you want a quick wash or a long soak you are well provided for. Unlike other cottages, we don't charge extra for heating or electricity. It's all part of our philosophy of making your holiday as trouble free as we possibly can.

As well as the wonderful Rayburn Royal Oil fired stove, the cottage comes with all the modern conveniences, a gas hob, combi oven and a dishwasher complement the Rayburn.

A TV and video is provided but if you do go out on a rainy day, a new automatic washing machine and tumble dryer are provided. Bed linen, quilts and towels are all provided free of charge, as are dishwasher and washing machine powders.

Probably the most popular reason for visitors coming to Shetland is the bird watching. Over 40 different species of birds have been spotted from the windows of Nye Swarthoull, as have otters playing in the sea. Close by are the Eshaness cliffs and the Ness of Hillswick. Both of which have large populations of nesting sea birds.

Nowhere on Shetland is more than 3 miles from the sea but Nye Swarthoull is closer than most. The sea is literally a stones throw away across the road which means access to the sea could not be easier. Being this close to the sea makes Nye Swarthoull the ideal base for either a Sea angling or a Diving holiday but don't be deceived, there are also ample fresh water sites to keep the avid trout fisherman occupied for weeks.

There is ample parking available on site. Pets may be accommodated by arrangement.
