    Old Fisherman's Cottage (sleeps 2) is one of three stone and whitewashed beach houses right on the sea front tucked away in a peaceful location at the edge of the west coast seaside village of Ballantrae in South Ayrshire.

    Here you can walk, rest, relax and enjoy the many activities to be found in this wild and unspoilt coastal region of hills and heather. Old Fisherman's Cottage has been thoughtfully designed in a traditional style from eco-friendly materials providing modern comfort. Harbour Green is a superb holiday location and rural retreat situated next to the picturesque old harbour within a conservation area. Spectacular sea views from each cottage focus directly across the bay to Ailsa Craig, Isle of Arran, Mull of Kintyre and Northern Ireland.

    The cottage provide luxury eco-friendly beachside holiday accommodation. All the cottages are beautifully furnished with a fresh coastal touch - White Company bedlinen, duvets, pillows and towels are included as well as logs, underfloor heating and much more. Each cottage has its own private large garden with a lawn, traditional picket fencing, garden furniture, terraced area and barbecue. The cottage includes the use of many features from books & jigsaws to shrimping nets and wifi to add enjoyment to your holiday in this unique location. Well behaved dogs are welcome. There is excellent mobile telephone reception.

    Ballantrae is a friendly Scottish village - it has a pub, a garage, bank, two public tennis courts, childrens playground, putting green, three cafes and a shop which is open every day of the week. It is 12 miles south of Girvan and 17 miles from Stranraer in South Ayrshire, South West Scotland.

    There are wonderful walks from right outside Harbour Green. The Ayrshire Coastal path passes in front of the area and the four mile beach is at the doorstep. Other activities available locally include wonderful golf courses, fishing on the River Stinchar, hill walking, exploring hill villages and the Galloway Forest Park, wonderful west coast gardens to visit, trips to Culzean Castle, Dumfries House, Glasgow, Ayr & the Robbie Burns Museum, Belfast (the ferry terminal is only 10 miles away) boat trips to Ailsa Craig and much more.

    This is a stone cottage originally a fisherman's bothy - it has been beautifully restored and modernised to provide romantic accommodation for a couple.

    Ground Floor: Entrance Hall with utility area and room for coats and wellies, washing machine and cloakroom with wc and wash hand basin. A large living room with wood burning stove, well equipped kitchen and dining areas looking out over the coast. Upstairs: Bedroom & ensuite shower room - It has a king size bed - with a sea view - and a large shower room with basin, wc and double shower.

    TV, DVD player, ipod dock, wifi, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, fan oven, gas hob, wood burning stove (logs provided), full underfloor central heating, bed linen and towels included; enclosed garden with furniture & barbecue. Cot and high chair on request.

    Road Directions

    From Glasgow and the North follow the M77 then A77 to Ballantrae

    From Carlisle and the South turn off the M 74 at Gretna onto the A75 towards Stranraer , just before Stranraer turn right onto the A77 (follow the ferry signs) and carry on for 17 miles until you reach Ballantrae

    To find Harbour Green turn down towards the sea on either Shore Road or Shellknowe in the centre of the village - turn right at the T junction and carry on about ¼ mile until you reach the harbour which is a dead end - Harbour Green is on the right.
