Road Directions

From Stromness
Take the Orphir road, (A964,) turning left a mile from Stromness at the Bridge of Waithe Follow the road through Orphir Village, with the Community School on your left. After leaving the village, the turning for Smoogro Road is the first right, about a mile from the village. There is a red letter box at the turning. Having turned right, keep on the road until you get to the lane for Point, a wooden house very close to the shore. Go down it and Old Point is to the right.

From the nearest information centre:- From the travel centre at Junction Road, turn left and go straight over the roundabout, then take the Orphir road A964, a right turn after the roundabout. From the turning in Kirkwall to the tuning to Smoogro road it is about 7 miles. The turning to Smoogro road is the first left after the signposted Germiston turning, 6 ½ miles out of Kirkwall labelled Orphir and Houton. There is a red letterbox at the turning to Smoogro Road. Follow the road until you see a wooden house close to the shore. Follow the track down and the cottage is to the right of the house

Train to either Thurso or Aberdeen and catch ferry to Orkney.

By car from Kirkwall (Hatson) Northlink Terminal:
Leave ferry and at theT junction turn left. At the roundabout go straight over, (Highland Fuels petrol on your left). At next roundabout turn right then take the next turning to the right, signposted 'Orphir.'

Follow Orphir road (A 964.) From the turning in Kirkwall to the turning to Smoogro Road it is about 7 miles. The turning to Smoogro Road is the first left after the signposted Germiston turning. A red letter box at the turning to Smoogro Road.
Keep on road until you get to lane for Point, a wooden house very close to the shore. Go down it and Old Point is to the right.
