    Views across Gruinard Bay to the Summer Isles and hills of Assynt to the north, and towards the An Teallach mountain range to the east over moorland and heather clad hills. Quiet coastal village with local shop and post office. Hotel nearby. Walking for all abilities and abundant wildlife. Wonderful coastal scenery and stunning sandy beaches.

    From the nearest information centre:- From Gairloch Tourist Information Centre, take the A832 towards Poolewe and Aultbea, and follow for 15 miles arriving in Laide. The Old Smiddy is first house on right hand side, next to the forest and opposite the church.

    Getting there by railway:- Train to Inverness, then by road. From Inverness take A9 north to Tore roundabout, take A835 from Tore to Braemore junction. At Braemore take A832 to Laide, and Old Smiddy is last house on left just before forest.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- From Inverness airport, follow signs for Inverness on the A96. From Inverness take A9 north to Tore roundabout. From Tore take A835 to Braemore junction. At Braemore junction turn left onto A832 for 30 miles to village of Laide. Old Smiddy is last house on left beside forest.

    Getting there by ferry:- From Ullapool Ferry Terminal, take A835 to Braemore junction, from Braemore junction take A832 for 30 miles to Laide. The Old Smiddy is last house on left beside forest.
