Skesquoy is a delightful country cottage set in 90 acres of its own grounds. The unspoilt tranquility of this corner of Orkney, along with the highest standard of accommodation, make Skesquoy a perfect base for your holiday.
Bordering an RSPB Reserve, numerous trout lochs and close to some of Orkney's many archaeological sites, you will enjoy a peaceful and comfortable break in Birsay.
Birsay is 12 miles from the Northlink Ferry Terminal in Stromness, 42 miles from Pentland Ferries arrival point in St Margaret’s Hope and 21 miles from Kirkwall Airport.
Skesquoy has two double and one twin bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge / dining room with an open fire, and a sun lounge which overlooks the Loch of Hundland. If you are looking for a country retreat, with birdsong for company, you will not be disappointed.
Please be aware before booking your holiday that part of the character and charm of Skesquoy is the characteristically low ceilings of the coomed attic bedrooms.
Skesquoy Cottage is located in Birsay, which offers lovely walks, sandy beaches, RSPB nature reserves, freshwater lochs for trout fishing, local museums, craft workshops and tearooms, all within easy driving distance. The Cottage lies within its own extensive grounds, bordering the RSPB Birsay Moors nature reserve, a wonderful area of unspoilt beauty, which is home to red-throated divers, hen harriers and much more. There are also plenty visitor attractions nearby, including the Brough of Birsay, the Earl's Palace and the Barony Mill, the only remaining working water mill in Orkney.
