Pabbay Cottage

Overview

The cottage has been beautifully renovated retaining original features such as the 4 feet thick walls and incorporating modern luxuries such as underfloor heating, multifuel stove and Wi-Fi .The ground floor has 2 bedrooms (1-twin and 1- single) and a shower room with luxurious rainbar shower. The other half of the ground floor has a large open plan living/ kitchen area with open vaulted ceiling with large french doors giving a lovely view across the glen. Upstairs is a large double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and balcony with fantastic views across the Mill Pool with Pabbay Island beyond.
Pabbay cottage is in the lovely village of Leverburgh and having an elevated position it has lovely views across the glen with the Sound of Harris in the distance. It is a five minute walk round The Millpool to An Clachan Stores and Tearoom and a ten minute walk to the pier where you will find The Butty Bus , The Anchorage Restaurant and the ferries to North Uist and St Kilda.
The stunning beaches at Northton, Nisabost and Horgabost are a 5-10 minute drive away (sheep permitting) and the famous Scarista golf course (as seen on Visit Scotland advert) is 4 miles up the coast.
Pabbay Cottage has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard to ensure you can enjoy a relaxing holiday with home comforts.
The living room has a large flat screen TV with satellite, dvd player with selection of dvds, music system with selection of cds, selection of books and games and free Wi-Fi is available
The kitchen is fully furnished with cooker, fridge, microwave. There is a utility outhouse with washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and sink- handy for washing sandy wet suits, wellies or your catch of the day! Here you will find space to store your fishing, golfing or biking gear.

Pabbay Cottage provides an ideal base to explore the beautiful lsle of Harris. The Isle Of Harris is on the edge of Europe - next stop America. From the rugged mountains in the north, to the moonscape and deep bays in the east to the creamy huge empty beaches in the west , it is a magical island.

Walking and cycling are a joy here as , even in the busy summer months, the roads are quiet and the beaches almost deserted. You will see seals on the east side and porpoises and whales in the Sound Of Harris. Birdwatchers are laughing too with redshank and curlews near Northton and buzzards and eagles in the hills.

The interior is a fishermans paradise - the land of a thousand lochs . Brown trout and salmon await the patient. You could try sea fishing too - or even a trip to the legendary St Kilda.

For the artistic Harris is a haven. Follow the Harris art trail and visit the many galleries to see the wide variety of art work inspired by this beautiful island.

If this is all too much for you , just try the local produce in one of the many restaurants . Hand dived scallops, lobster ,smoked salmon or maybe try Hebridean lamb or venison in The Anchorage Restaurant.

Once you have seen all that Harris has to offer you can travel further afield - visit Lewis with the Standing Stones at Callanish or take a ferry from the pier to Berneray and North Uist.

We are renovating an old blackhouse and will not be ready til next April 20th for
our first let.
