Park Neuk Cottage is a charming country cottage - a well-loved family home - stands on its own, a quarter of a mile from the nearest neighbour yet only 10 miles from the centre of Edinburgh.
Its secluded garden is surrounded by beautiful accessible countryside and there is a nearby golf course. It is situated within 10 minutes' walk of the attractive village of Rosewell, and is only 2 miles from the Roslin Glen wildlife reserve. The famous Rosslyn Chapel with its elaborate and mysterious medieval carving (of interest to fans of 'The Da Vinci Code' by Dan Brown) is only 3 miles away.
For walkers, a cross-country footpath intersects with an ancient drove road at the house. For cyclists, the Dalkieth to Penicuik cycleway passes nearby. Other nearby facilities include riding stables, loch fishing and river fishing.
Parts of the house date back to 1790, with thick sandstone walls, the remainder has been extended in sympathy to provide a spacious dwelling combining the character of the old with the comfort of the new. The garden is in harmony with nature and offers great privacy. Hard and soft fruits (raspberries, blackcurrants, brambles, cherries and apples) are available in season.
Living-room: A spacious room with an antique leather settee and comfortable arm-chairs around a large open fire; it has a dining area with a large picture window facing south over the garden. A colour television, DVD player and VCR are provided plus a CD, tape, and FM radio player.
Bedrooms: The master bedroom is a large airy room with a double bed, and a baby's cot can be provided if required. The 'Stone Room' has bare sandstone on three walls and has twin single beds. It has an open fire and a French window leading onto the garden. The walls of the 'Library' are lined with books; it is a snug room with a single bed.
The bathroom has a bath with a temperature-controlled shower, lavatory and washbasin. There is a well-equipped kitchen adjacent to the dining area with electric cooker, microwave oven, mixer, toaster and kettle. There is a utility area off the hall with automatic washing machine and tumble dryer. The central heating is oil-fired; otherwise everything is run by electricity. All north-facing rooms have double-glazing.
Off-road parking is provided. Access is possible for an assisted disabled person with limited mobility.
