Pitcastle House

Pitcastle is a 5 star luxury exclusive-use castle and estate at the heart of Highland Perthshire.

The Estate

Pitcastle Estate is 1,500 acres of spectacular Scottish landscape made up of river frontage, deer park, forests, heather moorland and mountain country. The estate extends over the river Tay to the South to its highest peak at over 2,000ft to the North. Whatever the reason for your visit to Pitcastle, it is here in this spectacular setting that you will experience true Scottish hospitality.

Accommodation

Pitcastle house itself, nestled at the bottom of the estate and above the river, is a delightful and substantial Victorian mansion house, the turrets and crowsteps typical of Scots Baronial style. Meticulously maintained in traditional Scottish style with rich colours and outlooks offering views over the spectacular scenery, each room in Pitcastle House has something different to offer those who choose to visit. The house is fully serviced and our chef will provide excellent meals from local produce. Our 9 bedrooms, individually decorated and the ensuite room offer the most sumptuous setting in which to rest. All rooms have a telephone and of course, a complementary WiFi internet access is available throughout the house. The views to which you will awake in the morning are second to none and as you retire at the end of your day there can be no better setting in which to slumber. Our holiday cottage is very comfortable and can sleep up to 6 people on a self-contained basis or as part of a main house let.

Glenlochay

Glenlochay, our sister estate, is an area of outstanding beauty situated in what is renowned as one of Scotland's most beautiful and ancient glens. Running from the equally awe-inspiring Glen Lyon to Loch Tay and to the village of Killin, this 14,000 acre estate remains almost totally unspoilt, and forming the upper half of the glen, has complete privacy and seclusion to offer visitors. This estate offers amazing stalking opportunities.

Activities on the Estate

Fishing and stalking

Set amongst spectacular highland landscape, our stalking and fishing days out are led by our own experienced stalkers who know everything that there is to know about these ancient sports.
Both of our Estates - Pitcastle and Glenlochay - offer an outstanding fishing and stalking experience. With both red stag and hinds and roe buck and doe on the estates land as well as salmon and trout fishing on our private three-quarter mile stretch on the river Tay and rainbow and brown trout in some of our 9 lochans, there is no shortage of sporting opportunities for seasoned sportsmen.

Clay Pigeon Shooting, Target Shooting & Archery

These activities are all available under the supervision of our experienced personnel.

Wildlife Park

Guided visits to our wildlife park to see animals such as European bison, European elk, red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, moufflon and osprey are also available.

Other Activities

Area Activities

The area surrounding Pitcastle offers a large number of historic sites to visit, ranging from the early Neolithic standing stones and cup-marked rocks to the battlefields of the Rebellions including Killiecrankie and Culloden.
There are fantastic golfing opportunities close to the Estate and within easy driving distance you will reach Gleneagles, Carnoustie and St Andrews (not to mention the other 39 Golf courses in Perthshire!).
If you like shopping you will enjoy the world famous House of Bruar 25 minutes away from Pitcastle, or perhaps you will prefer a day trip to Edinburgh to discover Princes Street, Edinburgh castle or some museums.
Whiskey distillery trips or tasting is also easy to arrange at nearby places like Dewars, Blair Athol and Edradour.
