    Port Charlotte Youth Hostel is a converted whisky warehouse of the former Lochindaal Distillery, right at the shore of Loch Indaal on Islay. The youth hostel has all the amenities you would expect. For those looking for budget accommodation multi-share rooms are available, but the youth hostel is also family friendly and provides private rooms. Facilities include a spacious and well-equipped self-catering kitchen overlooking the bay and a common room for families and groups with a TV and comfy furniture.

    Road Directions

    From Bowmore follow the road signs to Bridgend. At Bridgend turn left and follow the signage to Port Charlotte. The youth hostel is on the shore side of the main road, just over the wee bridge, as you enter the village.

    Public Transport Directions

    Getting there by air: From Islay Airport take the bus to Bowmore and transfer there to the Port Nahaven. The bus will drop you off at the front entrance to the hostel, in Port Charlotte.

    Getting there by ferry: The ferry runs from Kennacraig 7 days a week. From Oban/Colonsay Wednesdays only. Please check with Caledonian MacBrayne for timetables and for the connecting bus services on Islay

    Getting there by bus: From Port Ellen take the bus to Bowmore and transfer to the Portnahaven. The bus will drop you off at the front entrance to the youth hostel in Port Charlotte. From Port Askaig take the waiting bus to Bridgend and transfer to the Portnahaven bus. The bus will drop you at the front entrance to the youth hostel in Port Charlotte.
