With Loch Lomond right on our doorstep, only minutes drive away; a short 15 minute drive from Glasgow Airport on the west coast (60 minutes from Prestwick Airport, 70 minutes from Edinburgh Airport), we are an ideal touring base.
Please take a look at our website www.positano.org.uk for new photos and information on our recently renovated rooms. Dumbarton is the perfect stop over town to spend some days in before going further north to (e.g.) the Highlands or Inverness/Loch Ness on your vacation. Or why not spend your entire vacation with us? We're an ideal base for touring all around this area of Scotland. We're less than 15 minutes away from Luss, Balloch and Helensburgh; ideal for day trips to places such as Stirling, Callandar, Dunoon, the Trossachs, Inveraray, Aberfoyle, Oban, Troon, Largs and Ayrshire. Even Edinburgh is only a 70 minute drive away. Glasgow City Centre, with it's wonderful museums, shops, restaurants and night life, is 25 minutes away. And of course Dumbarton Castle (which has the longest recorded history of any stronghold in Great Britain), is right on our doorstep - a 5 minute walk away from our property.
Positano is a spacious, modern house that has been recently refurbished throughout to an exceptionally high standard. Located very centrally in the town of Dumbarton. Although on a road, our main entrance is at the back of the house, with a large garden and back yard. None of our rooms suffer from traffic noise. You really wouldn't know we're on a road at all - we have the best of both worlds: a convenient, easy to find location and beautiful, peaceful accommodation. We offer a friendly and helpful family service.
Our most popular bedrooms are Ischia (Double) & La Sila (Twin/Triple) in our recent attic/loft conversion. Our guests love to book these two rooms together, as it gives them the whole floor of the attic (with some great views) to themselves, though they are 2 completely separate bedrooms.
We have private off-street parking if you have a car; and we have a private garage if you need to lock up your bikes safely for the night. Secure wi-fi is available in all rooms.
Our location also has great transport - there is a bus stop on our doorstep and a train station (with it's frequent services to Glasgow City Centre) a few minutes walk away.
