"From the moment you step into the immaculate vestibule, it's plain to all the senses that things are done well here - Neil Rae is a grand host and the hotel strives for quality in all"
Scottish Hotel Awards' Guide 2013
Voted Scotland’s Country House Hotel of The Year in 2011 and 2012, Raemoir House, a grand Georgian house, has been completely upgraded since being taken over by Neil and Julie Rae. The hotel retains its traditional atmosphere, whilst providing AA 3-star accommodation, a warm welcome and exceptional standards of AA 2-Rosette and Michelin-recommended cuisine. In Raemoir House and its eleven acres of gardens and parkland, you will find seclusion, privacy and peace.
The wood-panelled Drawing Room has far-reaching views through the windows over the lawns to the hills beyond and provides an ideal place for afternoon tea. In the evenings there is a warm ambience when the shutters are closed and the open fires sparkle.
The equally impressive Dining Room, once the Oval Ballroom, is a unique feature of Raemoir House, with its Victorian flocked-velvet wallpaper, gilt mirrors and 19th century portraits. The dining room is reminiscent of the grandeur of days gone-by, with its tall windows overlooking the grounds, making it one of the most splendidly atmospheric dining rooms in the area.
The Big Fish Bar has a wide selection of malt whiskies and a unique feature in the 96lb monster fish above, which was caught in the River Dee and is a reminder that not all of them get away! The Private Sitting Room affords smaller parties the opportunity of privacy, whether for a meeting or a dinner party for up to sixteen guests. The larger Georgian Room accommodates up to seventy for weddings and corporate entertainment.
We pride ourselves into how well we do weddings in the house or in the marquee because we know how important they are. The bridal party can take over the hotel. Our Marquee seats 150, but can be extended. Our eleven acres of secluded wood and parkland lend themselves perfectly for exclusive private parties, outdoor activities and corporate entertainment.
Raemoir House is well suited for exclusive use, with fourteen bedrooms in the main house and six in the ha’ hoose behind (this is the original building). We can organise activities and special dinners.
Just outside the hotel is a helipad for those who arrive in style.
Raemoir is on the outskirts of Banchory, a small town, the Gateway to Royal Deeside, thirty minutes from Aberdeen and the same from Aberdeen Airport. We are within easy travelling distance of castles, gardens, distilleries and several golf courses.
We may be close to Aberdeen, but the seclusion of Raemoir means you are a world away! Outside there are hills, forest and countryside. Inside there is luxury, privacy, wonderful food, a warm welcome. Complete indulgence!
