Sgath an Tighe is a lovely Victorian house with stunning views over the Clyde estuary. We offer a special place to escape via our bed and breakfast and self catering accommodation. We also provide pottery/craft courses and retreats.
Sgath an Tighe is a lovely old Victorian Villa in an elevated position giving stunning views over the Clyde estuary. It is the home to a Bed and Breakfast, self catering accommodation and also ‘Recreate’- who provide craft courses and retreats (including courses in our fully equipped pottery.)
Bed and Breakfast accommodation comprises two main en suite rooms- a large double and a family room with a double and a day bed that converts into a further double. Both have amazing views out over the water.
The rooms cost £70 per night for couples sharing, and £45 for single occupancy. There is a small increase for children over 12 in the family room. For larger families we also have an adjoining single room that is available as an add on booking for £25 per night. We serve a wholesome, mainly vegetarian breakfast with home made breads and lots of local produce.
Sgath an Tighe is an ideal place to use as a base for exploring the beautiful unspoiled Cowal Peninsular, which is becoming an ever more popular destination for people looking to immerse themselves in wild places. Cowal has everything- high rugged mountains, beautiful lochs, forests and beaches and yet is one of the more accessible parts of the Highland region with good transport and ferry links from the Central Belt. Dunoon itself has been a tourist destination of repute since the heyday of the paddle steamers, and we are on the edge of Britains newest National Park.
Whilst staying at Sgath an Tighe, visitors might also be interested to try their hand at pottery, or other crafts- see our website for details of planned workshops and courses, or if possible we will plan something just for you!
We also run an occasional programe of spiritual retreats and other themed weekends intended to provide quiet escapes from busy daily life- again, see our website for details.
We look forward to welcoming you!
