Traditional house in a quiet village on the rim of the Galloway Forest Park. Once the village shop and post office, now a comfortable self-catering home with spacious living for couples and families alike. Large secluded garden.

The light and airy ground floor has views on to the garden from the hallway and the kitchen, and the open plan kitchen/dining room is great for getting together while the chef of the family cooks up favourite meals.  There are lots of kitchen utensils and cookware, and plenty of crockery and glassware for up to 8 people.  In the evening, cosy up by the open fire in the sitting room and have fun with board games for all ages, or raid the shelves of books and paperbacks for some relaxed holiday reading.  Browse through our huge collection of guides to local attractions and activities.  In fine weather (it does happen!) live life out-of-doors on the patio and the lawn and enjoy the amazing garden.

Rose Haugh sleeps 6 in comfort, with one double bedroom and two twin rooms.  Plus, the master bedroom has 2 children’s bunks to make it a family room if needed.  The bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet and handbasin, and downstairs is a cloakroom with toilet and handbasin.

From Laurieston village you have a great base for exploring beautiful rural Galloway, unspoilt and packed with wonderful wildlife.  Nearby we have the Galloway Kite Trail, the Raiders’ Road forest drive, Threave Gardens and Estate, the Galloway Activity Centre with sailing on Loch Ken, birds at Mersehead and the Ken-Dee marshes, and the Lochhill Equestrian Centre for pony trekking.  Or you may choose to search out artists’ and craft-workers’ studios or historic castles and museums, walk the forests and hills, or go cycling, fishing, or golfing.  We keep a file with suggestions for local walks starting from the house itself.  The sands of the Solway coast are half an hour’s drive away.  On winter nights the Dark Sky of the Galloway Forest Park comes into its own.  You’ll never be at a loss for something to do.
