From the nearest information centre:- From Kirkwall T.I.C. go out on to Junction Road. Follow the A961 to Burray. Turn right into the village and follow the road down to the harbour. (Kirkwall - Burray 13 miles). From Stromness T.I.C. take the A965 to Kirkwall (15 miles) at the first junction before the garage turn right then right again at the roundabout. Take A961 to Burray, turn right into the village and follow the road down to the harbour. (Stromness - Burray 28 miles).

Getting there by railway:- Scotrail from all Scottish departures to either Thurso or Wick or Aberdeen.

Getting there by aeroplane:- British Airways (UK) either from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Wick or Sumburgh (Shetland) to Kirkwall (Orkney). From Kirkwall Airport take the A961 across Churchill Barriers to Burray, turn right into village and follow the road down to the harbour.

Getting there by ferry:- NorthLink Ferries from Aberdeen or Lerwick to Kirkwall. NorthLink Ferries from Scrabster to Stromness. Pentland Ferries from Gills Bay to St Margaret's Hope. John o' Groats ferries from John o' Groats to Burwick (May - September). From St Margarets Hope follow the road through the village up the hill to the main road. Turn left for Kirkwall, after crossing the first barrier turn left into Burray village and follow the road down to the harbour.
