Schiehallion House

Schiehallion is a small family run guest house located in the beautiful Deeside village of Braemar, Scotland. We pride ourselves on running a friendly comfortable establishment. Ideally located for walking, golfing, cycling and skiing.

Scotland's largest ski centre (Glenshee) is just up the road, where you can enjoy the finest skiing in the UK. We offer a hearty Scottish breakfasts, log fires and warm beds. For those that want a more sedentary visit, Upper Deeside offers castles, whisky distilleries, fine restaurants and of course breathtaking scenery. Schiehallion House has retained many original features, in particular the high ceilings, wooden doors and staircase. There is a large comfortable residents' lounge which is open all day where you can relax on a cold evening in front of the fire and enjoy a dram. There are games to occupy a wet evening and a variety of books to browse through. The TV lounge is a cosy room with colour TV and DVD player. here also is a box of children's toys and books.

The bedrooms are all comfortably furnished most are ensuite and only one has adjacent to a bathroom/shower room and seperate toilet. All rooms have a hospitality tray, wash hand basin and information of places of interest to visit. The rooms to the front of the house face east and enjoy the morning sunshine. The views over the surrounding Grampian mountains are spectacular. To the east is Craig Coinach and the locally know Coo Hill and to the west is the higher summit of Morrone and over to Cairnadrochit in the north. The rooms facing west benefit from the afternoon and evening sunshine over the mountains. Schiehallion is surrounded by lovely old silver birch trees which teem with wildlife. Among our regular visitors are red squirrels feeding on the nuts, pheasants in the garden, tree creepers and wood peckers on the birch trees. In the evening the owls can be heard in the surrounding trees. Guests are welcome to relax and enjoy the garden and explore for all the wildlife.
