Shepherd's Cottage - A two bedroom rural cottage located on Yorkston Farm which is part of Arniston Estate. This is your quintessential country cottage yet it is only 30 minutes from central Edinburgh.

Shepherd's Cottage sleeps 4/6 people and is set in beautiful countryside with stunning views up to the Moorfoot Hills. Arniston Estate has four holiday properties available to rent. Nearby there is Vogrie Country Park, Rosslyn Chapel, Temple Village, The Scottish Mining Museum and, for biking enthusiasts, Glentress Biking Trails all within easy access. Local pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops are all a short drive away. An 14 mile trip to Edinburgh's first class art galleries and museums, the capital's eclectic mix of restaurants and bars plus its boutique shopping experience all adds up to a great day out. Alternatively fishing, shooting, estate tours or a private tour of the house can be booked on request.
Shepherd's Cottage is ideal for families. Alternatively other properties on the estate can cater for larger groups. The cottage comprises of an open plan kitchen with all mod cons and sitting room with a log burning stove, TV, DVD player and sofa bed. There are stunning views from the sitting room up to the Moorfoot Hills. There is one double bedroom, one twin and a family bathroom. There is ample garden with a picnic table. Ideally located for walks near Rosebery and Gladhouse reservoirs.

All linen, bath towels and fuel for the stove are included in the price.

Road Directions

From A7 at Gorebridge turn onto B6372 signposted to Temple. Drive past the gates for Arniston House. Approximately ½ mile further take the road left to Temple. Drive up the hill through Temple. Past Temple Farm on your left. Take the next right to Yorkston. Arrive at Yorkston Farm after 1 mile. Shepherd's Cottage is the detached cottage with wooden gate opposite the barn on the road corner heading towards Rosebery Reservoir.

Public Transport Directions

Getting there by railway:- From Waverly Station, Edinburgh take taxi to Yorkston Farm, Arniston Estate.

Getting there by aeroplane:- Head left towards Edinburgh city bypass (A720). Take City Bypass to Sheriffhall Roundabout. Take the A7 exit. Remain on the A7 and go through 5 roundabouts. At Gorebridge take right onto the B6372. Follow above directions.

Getting there by ferry:- Take ferry to Rosyth. Head over Forth Road Bridge onto the City Bypass south (A720). Take City Bypass to Sheriffhall Roundabout. Take the A7 exit. Remain on the A7 and go through 5 roundabouts. At Gorebridge turn right onto B6372. Follow above directions.
