Road Directions
Once you have crossed the Skye Bridge, at the Kyleakin roundabout take 3rd exit onto A87, signposted for Portree and Uig. Continue on A87 for approx 25.5 miles until you reach Sligachan. Turn left onto A863 then drive for approx 5.5 miles and then turn left onto the B8009, signposted for Portnalong and Carbost. Continue on B8009 for approx 6 miles, passing through Carbost village and heading to Portnalong. Drive passed the sign for Portnalong, until you see direction signs for Taigh Ailean Hotel. Continue passed hotel and "Shorefield" is the third house on your right, overlooking the sea.Public Transport Directions
From the nearest information centre:- On leaving Centre, turn left and head out of Portree on the A87,signposted Dunvegan and Uig. Continue along A87 for approx 10 miles until you reach Sligachan.Turn right onto A863 then drive for approx 5.5 miles and then turn left onto the B8009, signposted for Portnalong and Carbost. Continue on B8009 for approx 6 miles, passing through Carbost village and heading to Portnalong. Drive passed the sign for Portnalong, until you see direction signs for Taigh Ailean Hotel. Continue passed hotel and "Shorefield" is the third house on your right, overlooking the sea.Getting there by railway:- Train will terminate at Kyle of Lochalsh, if travelling via Inverness and in which case you would cross Skye Bridge, and the directions are same as above from that point.
If you are travelling on the West Highland Rail line, your train will terminate in Mallaig and would have to take the ferry across to Armadale, on Isle of Skye. From Armadale, you take A851 and drive for approx 15 miles until you reach a T Junction, then turn left onto A87, signposted for Portree.Continue on A87 for approx 18 miles, until you reach Sligachan. Turn left onto A863 - from this point follow directions as above "by car".
