Shorefield is a new purpose-built, well-equipped, luxury self catering cottage, which complies with all current building and safety regulations. Situated in an idyllic location, with an unspoilt, breath-taking panoramic view over beautiful Loch Harport. The nearby Cuillins and MacLeod Tables are also clearly visible from this picturesque location. Situated within the crofting village of Portnalong, you are a 10 minute drive from the nearby Talisker Distillery and there are many beautiful walks, a number of secluded beaches and island wildlife on your doorstep. A Sea Eagle has been spotted nesting nearby. The village pub is only a 5 minute walk away. Shorefield is wonderful setting, for a relaxing holiday or an action packed activity break. Situated in Portnalong, a central island location, with Portree only 19 miles away. An ideal base for various outdoor activities. Glenbrittle is only a short drive away with it's beautiful beach and numerous walks into the Cuillins.
Ex-servicemen from the Islands of Harris and Lewis, settled in the hamlet of Portnalong, after the Great War. They made a living mainly through crofting and fishing, with many of the crofters, traditionally weaving the world-famous "Harris Tweed". The pier is about 5 minutes walk, away, where you will see the local fishermen landing their daily "catch" at the end of a busy day. Portnalong is a "ribbon village" which gives you a feeling of "being away from it all", without being too remote. There are good village amenities nearby, with a choice of two pubs, which both serve food, providing regular live entertainment and highland hospitality. The well stocked village shop, Post office and local Medical Practice are located the neighbouring village of Carbost, which is about 5 minutes drive, and where you will also find the world famous Talisker Distillery, which welcomes visitors daily, including weekends. There various craftshops in the village, and an art gallery next door.
From the cottage, you are privileged to have spectacular views of the Red Cuillins and Black Cuillins, which are awesome, the whole year round. Shorefield is an ideal location whether you are looking for a family holiday, a romantic break or honeymoon, or a holiday pursuing your favourite outdoor activities, such as hillwalking, kayaking, mountaineering, fishing, etc.
